Overall 1/5 Overall disappointed on food, small portion yet overpriced.

We stayed at the hotel, tried to have dinner at Spey inn on 27 May. We made a reservation at 6:30 pm for 2.

Disappointed that all the grills food were out of stock by our time slot, consider early in the evening.

Disappointed the food portion is small. I ordered a beetroot salad for GBP12 before surcharge. The portion is tiny with only 2 bite of beetroot then gone, we complained to the restaurant, but they replied the starter portion is small. Well, not justify for the price.

Disappointed that we ordered fish and chip, the waiter explained can change to pan fire fish fillet instead of fired. But when we get the item, it was just fired fish. Disappointed on this, we returned the dish.

As the beetroot salad was small, we added on side salad. The side salad was ok.

Ordered fish cake, taste so - so. Flour wrapping fish and some potato/ vegetable.

Said dinner, we finally paid GBP50 for the dinner, cut short the dinner and went to another restaurant for dinner.

A rare occasion for me to have such a detail review, My goal is to alert the next traveller, there are places you can spend your money happier and enjoy a better dinner...

Disappointed to write this. We visited the Copper Dog two years ago and it was excellent! Food and service were stellar, ambiance was beautiful, space was well kept. We were very excited to revisit this October, instead we hardly recognized it. Tables running behind even with reservations made. Staff was distracted, unkept and not attentive to patrons. We saw no less than four separate confrontations between staff and patrons regarding wait times for food and beverage causing quite a stir in the restaurant. After completing our meal, we sat for over thirty minutes without being checked on for water, drinks or dessert. When we walked to the bar to ask for our check, a server who wasn't ours gave it to us she added a 12.5% service fee. We asked politely to have it taken off as we hadn't seen our server since we ordered. She began arguing and said , "well that happens sometimes". The bottom of the menu states this fee may be added in some circumstances which we would've happily paid if we had service. Eventually it was removed...

Tables too close together for comfortable talking, noisy bar and dog barking there. Couldn’t hear my friend who sat across the table. We all ordered Fish and chips, the vegetarian option didn’t appeal to me. Fish and chips took a while to arrive. Fish and batter were tasteless, chips were very dry and hard, almost as if reheated! Very disappointing main meal for £20 a portion… Staff didn’t listen properly to our drinks order when one of us asked for orange SQUASH and lemonade in a pint glass - they served him fresh orange and lemonade in a normal glass. The desserts portions are small. The Cranachan only tasted overpoweringly of strong, bitter honey. Deconstructed cheesecake could be scooped up in one soup spoon. Looked pretty but was next to nothing in portion size, such a shame. Our friends, who ordered sorbets, were served 2 medium balls in a bowl without any garnish! We won’t be back. The place has no comfort, no atmosphere. One positive: the toilets were nice and...

LOVE IT. Service and ambiance was incredible. My rib eye could have been better, but all around, great moment with my family.

Fantastic, simple, high-quality ingredients and great service. We came for a special occasion and felt our experience between dinner at the Spey inn and tastings at the Quaich Bar truly made it feel like a celebration. Dinner was fantastic, one of the best steaks out I’ve had in years (I usually prefer my own!). Get the chips, not the fries in my opinion and definitely splurge on the filet if you’re a steak lover. Reception at the hotel helped us book a taxi for after our tasting and, upon realizing I would need cash to pay, I asked our server if she had any suggestions for grabbing some cash and she swooped in and offered to charge our card in exchange for cash. We have a no fees card and this was PERFECT and absolutely saved our butts (both from a rainy walk and having to ask the taxi driver to stop at an ATM). So yes, come here! While a bit pricy, it’s great food and even more amazing service.
