I usually only go to McDonalds when visiting young relatives in the area. They seem to love it, but my experiences here are:
if using the drive through, I'm always asked if I want to make my order into a meal. Every time I say no thank you, I don't have anywhere in the car to put a drink. Then I always ask if I could possibly have maybe extra fries or a side (happy to pay a bit towards them if more expensive) instead of a drink. To date I have NEVER been answered. EVER. I find it very rude. I'd much rather they said no than ignored me or pretended they hadn't heard. It's happened too often for it to be anything other than an instruction from management.
when paying, on several occasions I've had to ask for the card reader to be either handed to me or tilted towards me as I refuse to make a transaction when I can't verify the amount. Last time I visited, the person taking orders/payments snapped at me that I didn't need to see it as it's contactless! Unbelievable!
it would help if the people at the food service window would actually look at customers when handing over the food. I appreciate they're busy, but twice they've reached out with a bag, then looked away before I've taken hold of it properly.
last visit ( a warm day) I was asked to wait in one of the bays while some of the food was prepared. No problem, as the fresher the food is the better. However they handed me one bag first and then I had to wait six minutes before someone came out with the other bag. I opened the first bag and the food in there was barely warm, so I took both bags back in. Someone who had some semblance of control told me they'd happily reheat the cold bag. I didn't want anything reheated, just all my food handed to me at the same temperature.
today, the one and only time I've eaten inside the place, my own burger was not even lukewarm by the time we sat down. All of our food was ready within a couple of minutes, so I'm assuming it had been sitting out for a while cooling down. Is that good practice from a food safety point of view?
So to summarise, staff are at best not customer focused, at worst verging on rude. Food safety does not appear to be a priority.
I can't comment on other branches but in future won't be using this one no matter how much the younger members of the family plead to go when...
Read moreReally felt for the staff member who was on her own on the front of house at 4.30 tuesday. Team members about to start work were having their temperature taken and she was giving them masks as well as delivering food to tables and sorting out the partners who were picking up massive deliveries from the collection point. She was so polite to me and apologetic. I really felt for the team behind the fryers who were clearly not able to be 1 metre apart but were really trying to do their job. Felt for the manager who was clearly trying his best. Rated 2 stars because I as a customer I felt the chaos and the stress going on behind the screens. Also thought it a little strange that an employee would make it all the way into the restaurant past a queue of nurses, police officers etc people waiting and ordering to have their temp taken. What if it was too high to start work? God forbid they had covid, but they just walked through a restaurant and one was even touching bags of food to be helpful before starting her shift by reaching under the screens from the customer side. There are lots of good intentions and clearly a team of people that want to work hard but you need someone directing the people inside. The arrows on the floor are pointless and confusing and the front desk would feel less overwhelmed if there was a clear...

Often use this branch for breakfast for myself and my crew, so use the drive thru. 3 weeks ago, service was so slow and staff so unhelpful I had to leave without the food I'd ordered and paid for. Having been kept waiting for nearly 15 minutes, the staff still couldn't tell me how much longer I'd have to wait. More than 5 minutes and I would have been late for work - bad news for an event medic! Due to them being so unhelpful I eventually just had to drive away, minus breakfast, and told them to put the money I'd paid them in the charity box. Didn't even have time to wait for them to sort a refund :( Last week I went there and ordered and paid for 2 McMuffins and a wrap. When I met my colleagues I opened the bag to find the wrap but only one muffin :( This morning, they got my order completely wrong. Looked like they gave me someone else's order. Took a good few minutes to sort that one out but at least I'd had the sense to check it before I left. Perhaps service in the restaurant is better but the drive-thru...
