UPDATE, called in here again at the weekend, all of a sudden now, things like peas, salad and coleslaw that used to come included are charged extra, had to pay an extra £1.50 for egg on my Gammon steak, £2+ for peas, can't remember the extra cost for the salad and coleslaw but after that experience I don't think I'll be returning, shame as it was always a good place to eat. PREVIOUSLY: Always good food and friendly staff, popped in for dinner for our wedding anniversary, lovely meal as usual, generous portions and well cooked, no complaints, would definitely recommend 👌

Nice little pub in in between Aberystwyth and Aberaeron, we seen the sign on the way home advertising Sunday dinner so we decided to try. The pub was fairly busy, the staff looked like they’d didn’t want to be there especially the female. The male was smoking outside the main door, that for me is a big no. Food was ok, good price, I think it could have more to the plate but it’s a good start.

Lovely starter and main, we both chose to have the prawn cocktail as a starter and this came with some soft bread and sauce on the side, we then both went for the cheese burger which was again lovely, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and it's very reasonably priced. We also took the dog to which they have no problems having inside or in the outside seating area.

Stopped on our way to Aberystwyth due to available parking facilities (knew it would be packed in Aberystwyth due to it being the bank holiday weekend). The food is to die for, both my Husband and myself thoroughly enjoyed our meal, arrived almost immediately and was piping hot. Portion size was huge. Staff were friendly and polite. I would happily return bar for one thing. Whilst I understand and respect that some people have and want to take their dogs with them, I myself am not one of them, neither is my other half. Whilst I, nor he would ever be cruel to a dog, we are not dog lovers. I am absolutely petrified of them after being bitten as a child and whilst I know not all dogs are like that it does nothing to allay my fear. After we were seated a couple with a dog were shown to the next table, the dog was jumping around whilst the owner chatted to his partner and at one point it jumped up onto another customer as they entered the restaurant and they were not best pleased (as demonstrated by the look on their face). The owner continued to chat to his partner, instead of controlling the dog. I spent the rest of the time worrying that it might jump on me as I left. Luckily it didn't but I think the owners of the pub should consider sitting customers attending with their pooches away from those who don't have them, I know it would have made my visit a much more pleasurable one. Having said this I will definitely return but will politely request that no dogs are seated next to me during my visit. Compliments...

Made a booking for while we are on holiday, there was very nice lady running round like a headless chicken running the bar and serving for quite a few guests... She needed help. Drinks were nice and lively, ordered 2 meals, my mother who was with me enjoyed hers, the ham was very good, mine was... Disappointing. Chicken salad. Came with balsamic already on the salad and a Caesar side, the dryest piece of chicken that I couldn't eat, I'd have had better luck trying to chew a brogue shoe. Salad leaves had wilted under the hot chicken and balsamic leaving a limp situation, it was barely sampled, (I went back to our accomodation and made myself A very delicious cheese and pickle sandwich). A hardier salad such as cos or gem would be a better choice. The guy over the other side of the bar, who I assume was the landlord or the owner has some very colourful language, multiple 'f' bombs were audible... I'm out for dinner with my mother!. The golf was on the TV and no music ambience which most people enjoy for a pleasant meal out. Sat in silence and the continual swearing while tucking into a lackluster and limp offering was more than enough to conclude I will not be visiting for more than a 'pit stop sup of summot' in future. I will say though, other guests food looked very nice, so maybe it was a bad choice on my part... but I fancied something fresh after a week of calorific excess. The lady serving was friendly, polite and...

Have been here several times previously and had excellent food and ale everytime. Had it not been for previous experiences, would have been a lower rating. Popped in for lunch today.. chose the Chicken Curry from specials board with Rice, Mini Naan and chips ... what came out was grilled chicken breast, sliced, and possibly left overs from the Bank Holiday weekend (fully understand using food like chicken into a curry) with an obvious sachet of commercial ready made curry sauce or powder mixed and just poured over the Chicken. If you going to use left overs, at least a chef/cook could make own curry sauce base with chopped chicken, onion, mushrooms and not give the impression of a Vista curry. And at £15 .. felt it was a bit of a cheat today. We ate it without sending it back as didn't want to wait, but mentioned it to the lovely bar staff/server. As I say .. always been excellent here, but this is not good today. Will give it another go soon and hope this was a one off and will hopefully be able to give a better review to balance out. Also surprising not to see classic dishes such as Fish & Chips or a Steak & Kidney pie in the menu under...
