We booked in for food at the Barn after seeking a booking was recommended online. We visited when we stayed at a nearby campsite. Positively we were able to take our dog with us, but they do sit you in the dog area which is a little secluded. We arrived on time for our half 7 booking and were shown to our seats and given a menu with no further instructions. After 15 mins we asked one of the staff who had been seen behind the bar if we needed to go to the bar to our. He said one of the waitresses would be over in a few minutes. Another 10 minutes went past with no service and the male worker seen chatting behind the bar. When the waitress finally came to take our order I asked for a wine and she stated she could not take the order as she was a minor and so I would need to go to the bar. After a long wait to be told we needed to go to the bar we decided not to order any food and we went to the nearest pub for food. We ended up in The Black Lion. It had lovely food and 100% better service.
I personally wouldn't recommend a visit to the Barn. It maybe we were more "out of sight, out of mind" as we were sat alone in the dog friendly area. The restaurant itself is more of a social club vibe that's trying to be a restaurant, personally I think it would be better suited to taking orders at the bar and making it a more...
Read moreMy family and I have just returned from our meal at The Barn and I cannot rate them highly enough! The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. I am a vegetarian and have several food allergies which I do feel embarrassed about as often places can be a bit on edge about allergies. The lovely waitress said she would make a note of my allergies and not long after the chef himself came out to talk to me about it and check the details. He was so accommodating and it was so refreshing to not feel like I was being a pain. I have to say it was one of the nicest veggy curries I have had, full of loads of veg and really tasty. My mum is also a veggy and she raved about the halloumi salad, my dad and husband were also really happy with their meals. Tasty food, big portions and very reasonable prices. Thank you for a lovely meal, we will back if we are passing...
Read moreHaving had high expectations of this establishment, I visited for the Sunday carvery. Well not a carvery really due to covid but a Sunday lunch. On attending atood waiting for some time for our pre booked table. Eventually a continental Chef finally greeted us andn apologised for the wait. He led me and my partner to the smallest table available and said he would get one of the girls to take our order and get some drinks. After another long wait a girl arrived and said 'lamb or beef'. Before we could ask anymore after deciding on beef, she promptly left, no chance for drinks. When the meals finally arrived with all the vegetables nicely served in 5 seperate dishes with no room to put out on the tiny table. Every item was served cold with the exception of the gravy which was tepid at best. A shame teally but will not be attending again even though...
