The Downfield (Doc Stewart's) — Restaurant in Great Britain

Have been here for a few family meals where it has been a large table booked (10+) only to turn up and been squashed in between numerous other larger tables. This time we had to actually make our table larger ourselves by dragging another over and joining it on. We booked for a party of 11 and we were given a table that had room for approximately 6 people. Not impressed. I had to constantly get up out of my seat because of this and let other patrons past to access their table or go to the bar/toilet. It was extremely busy and very very noisy where we were sat. Our table struggled to hear one another let alone try to have a conversation. The food itself was not too bad. Had a curry from their Indian menu but I would say that it was not as good this time as it has been before. We were served at 8.30pm (table was booked for 6.45pm) and didn't realise but we had to leave shorty after 9pm due to their licence not allowing kids later than 9pm. Wasn't aware of this until I asked for kids dessert. Food was good but the experience in general won't have me rushing back...

Food was ok. I'd ordered the tandoori mixed grill. This was presented to me in what can only be described as a mountain, with lots of salad, rice, and all the meats on top of each other. Oh, apart from lamb, as I was told when the plate was put in front of me that there was "no lamb". Why they didn't tell me that before it was cooked, or to offer me another option, beggars belief. In any other restaurant this dish is presented with a separate hot skillet for the meat, not a room temperature plate with the meat on top of salad. Also, the coating on the chicken Tikka was powdery, with no real Tikka taste at all. Very odd. They shouldn't have dishes on the menu that they don't know how to cook, or...

Little veggie choice for breakfast, tea cold, no decaf coffee, only blue milk, help yourself to bread out the packet n toast it yourself, all served up on a messy table(spilt liquids all over the paper tablecloth) food served... dried up mushrooms, overcooked polony, egg and tattie scones and 1 item short... Served with an attitude... Girl said "she can't help it if people spill things" when I mentioned the mess on the table... This was 11.30 today, place was full of smoke from the wood burner, and only 2 customers already in, a few more came in after us. Returned breakfast, got money back and left. Enjoyed breakfast...
