Absolutely brilliant, we ended up in harrogate getting married at the registry office, we had booked two nights at the crown hotel and it was a disaster, so much so we went home the first night. So we had a look at venues close to the registry office that would fit out needs and this was above expectations. The establishment it's self is modern and spotless, so quarky and relaxing, and even dog friendly even though we didn't have a dog with us. We booked online and we was so glad we did we walked in and it was busy but not in a off putting way but a nice way, friendly people and staff, and like I say provisions for dogs on entry. We'd booked for 5pm but the registry office ended sooner than expected, but the staff were more than happy seat us early. They never knew we'd just got married, so no special treatment as we never mentioned. We ordered our drinks from bar and took them to seats, drinks reasonably priced inline with other pubs. We looked through a varied menu which was to our liking, from steak, a variety of burgers pizzas, steak and ale pie and loads more. As a table of nine we scored through and eventually choose 2 lasagne, 3 american Joe's burger, 1 fish and chips and a children's chicken nuggets, with sides of 3 onion rings, and two garlic bread. It arrived at a nice pase about 30 min from ordering which I consider a reasonable amount of time considering tea time and 8 meals to make. All the food was brought together and wow presentation spot on, and looked so appetising, and we was not disappointed ,the food was amazing, cooked perfectly and soooo tasty, I can't fault one thing even the children chicken nuggets where home cooked from scratch and worth every penny honestly, we was so happy and it really made our day to have such a lovely evening in a hidden gem like the knox, I strongly recommend this to everyone, family's, dog lovers and sports fans ( the rugby was on which was a huge hit with my new hubby and farther inlaw as they love it) if your going to Harrogate to explore and want a lovely meal please visit as you wont be disappointed. We certainly will be going back, and considering we are from catterick it will be the main attraction of the...
Read moreCalled in the morning to book a table for 9 people at 4:30pm on a Sunday at a table with disabled access. We turned up at 4:32pm to be told that there was only a table that was not accessible with a wheelchair. No use to us! After they kindly tried to find a table they then informed us that the person taking the booking had not informed them that we needed disabled access and that also they're booked us in for 4pm instead of 4:30pm. Granted they did find us a table quicker than expected but the lack of communication between staff had let them down before we'd even got to the food.
The food... it was edible if you like the what looked like instant mash, fried "roast potatoes" and the meat I selected was dry as a bone. Also a negative for me was that I personally am allergic to poultry and all of the meats where sat in the same tray hence contaminating what meat I could eat with the juices from the poultry. They did go out of the way to get me some from the back and said they'd cut it from a fresh joint. However when they brought the try out later on with all the meats all on the same try I have my suspicions that it was also contaminated . Guess ill find out later...
Read moreThis is a pleasant easy going pub with lots of seating both indoor and outside. There’s a small garden to the front and a larger one at the rear, also home to a few goats, which is a first for any pub I’ve been to! That certainly makes it a decent spot outside with young children. Inside there’s a good number of screens if you want to watch sport and the staff are all friendly, remembering repeat drinks orders which was great, especially considering how busy it was on our visit. The range of drinks is good and the prices reasonable.
The food menu while not overly extensive has a good selection which should satisfy most people. It’s a shame that there wasn’t table service and ordering had to be done at the bar, but they were willing to take orders from the table for deserts once the menu had been brought. Prices were decent enough for the setting and while the dishes aren’t going to leave long last memories they were presented well and tasty enough.
Whether for drinks or a meal this is a good option and the chilled vibe suits most occasions; no doubt I’ll be returning...
