If you ever fancy a good, reasonably priced Indian restaurant in the Scunthorpe and surrounding area, I wholeheartedly recommend The Mayfair in Messingham.
Came as a spur of the moment and loved it.
They cater to couples and bigger groups and have a cocktail bar attached.
I had the chicken dopiaza with pilau rice and some of hubbyâs chips, he had tikka masala and special fried rice. You definitely can pick up the different flavours and the addition of a garlic, coriander naan was sublime.
It wasnât greasy or oily and were decent sized portions too.
The server we had was really good at listening to my concerns and making suggesting with dishes.
We didnât have a starter but will do next time as it was our first time and we wanted to get a feel of the place, food quality, atmosphere and attitude/temperament of the staff. The ones we encountered were incredibly pleasant and very polite.
Youâd love it, they are great and so friendly and even after 2 minutes you could tell that was him not a show for the patrons.
Very easy to find too
Both had our fill with drinks for less than ÂŁ20 per head and totally worth every penny just for the attentive (but not annoying) server we had who didnât ask every 2 minutes if everything was ok.
They leave you alone to look through the extensive menu (which is beautifully designed) and then in what feels like no time at all your meal is being delivered on a trolley which means all your dishes are served together so there is no risk of cross contamination or any part of it missing and is piping hot.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with itâs simple layout and choice of either a booth or a table (we had a table as itâs easier to navigate with disabilities)
100% recommend and 5âď¸ all around for service, food...
Read moreOverall we had a decent meal, but my chicken tikka was dry, chewy and disappointing. The restaurant was busy and a point of improvement to me in the restaurant would be a sign showing where to wait for tables, as it wasn't obvious. We waited around the bar area, the four young staff members working behind the bar where busy, but if it was my place, training staff to acknowledge customers waiting, goes a long way. We did have to chase starters after an hour and also the main meal. Waiter did apologise for being late. The main meal was very nice, food and plate were hot. The level of talking from the drunken table was becoming unbearable, but this is not the restaurants fault. I'm in two minds if I want to return, but I generally give restaurants a...

Review of the takeaway updated - I ordered the chicken tikka roshoon, and we collected it. It came very hot, but when i contacted the restaurant they apologised and replaced it and the rice. I had to collect it again, but they got it eight and handled it well. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect heat for medium spiced, as was the chicken tikka pathia my partner had. The naan was soft and fresh and mushroom rice was lovely. ...
