On barge holiday and stopped here today. We were going to eat at a chain pub by the canal but was recommended this pub by the local butchers. Well the food was very tasty cooked in house and at a reasonable price. Highly recommended Returned on Friday and had a fish lunch. Just as good as the previous visit very friendly and new owners with the vision of making this pub a proper local. Looking forward to a visit in a year or so....

I was moored up between Midland Chandler's and Braunston locks. I walked straight past the Boat House and up the hill to this little gem. Three nights, two steaks and a liver and onion. Guinness, Doombar, Hobgoblin Ruby, Inches cider, Moretti and Cruzcampo. Plenty of parking out the back. Pool table. Indoor table skittles. Three large TVs across two bars. Garden. If I lived close, it would be my local.

Lovely pub lunch, easy to find, great choice of drinks and the food was great. Lamb shank was cooked perfectly and plenty of fresh veg, three roast beef, lovely Yorkshire puddings and plenty of gravy! If your visiting on a canal boat, make the effort and skip the boat inn and head to the village and find the plough its well worth the 10 minute walk, real fire and welcoming staff make for a great village pub!

Worth the detour to the quaint village of Braunston as only a few minutes from the A5, M1, A45 and M45. We went there on our way back from Scotland as we didn't fancy the dreaded motorway services. Turned out to be a great choice and WELL WORTH the extra few miles off the motorway.

Kurt and Rhianna are very welcoming, the beer is excellent and the food, well,we've not had a better veg curry in a very long time. Worth noting, made to order, not pre-made and warmed up, so very fresh and arrived in no time. Places like this that offer a miles better experience than the usual chain suspects need to visited. It's a village pub - use it or lose it as they say. We...

We felt welcome from the moment we walked in on the lounge side. Sadie was bright, cheerful and more than helpful for a group of Americans who obviously had never been there before. The fish and chips was probably the best I have had on this trip. One of my friends wanted the pie of the day but was not feeling very hungry. Sade let us know that we could get half orders of most things on the menu so my friend got a half of a pie and sides. Our other friend got the chicken salad with small potatoes special and said it was very good. Nita arrived near the end of our meal and she was just as helpful. I would eat there...

If I could give this place 7 stars I would! We turned up as a party of 14 dripping wet from walking in the rain and we were welcomed and nothing was too much trouble for the kind-hearted staff. They moved the tables around to accommodate us and made provision for our wet coats. They let the children play darts while we waited for our meals. The menu was great for a variety of different appetites and when the food came it was delicious and very reasonable. It's a lovely old pub and the staff are outstanding, I can't recommend this place...
