Very disappointed. Came here a few years back when they were vegan for just veganuary - absolutely loved it. I have been dreaming about returning for some time. However this time we felt incredibly let down. One of the meals we ordered was the fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. This plate only has 4 components, a fairly simple dish. The meal was brought out with no tartare sauce. When the waitress brought out another meal we asked for the tartare sauce. She told us "the kitchen has been too busy to make it". I'm sorry, but that is a terrible excuse. Imagine bringing out Mac and cheese, without the cheese sauce because the "kitchen was too busy". Or a loaded fries without the topping. Not only was this a poor excuse, the attitude from the waitress was far from appropriate. If the kitchen was too busy, tell us before we order a meal. We would have happily picked another option. Or when you bring the plate out with something clearly missing, be honest and open. Don't wait for the customer to have to ask. We did ask if the kitchen had some time to make some sauce then that would be great, because in all fairness the fish and chips was bland and clearly needed that component. She eventually returned when we had a mouthful of dinner left with what could only be described as mayo, a chopped pickle with a sprinkle of parsley. No seasoning. Basically, it was just mayo. We have been vegan for 5 years and was looking forward to going out for a proper vegan pub meal. I for one won't be returning. We had been planning on having a dessert, because it's not often that you have the choice to, however, after that incredibly poor service I didn't want to waste any more money or time in this environment. Maybe make the menu smaller and concentrate on smashing those items, as it didn't seem overly busy. We did speak to a lady at the bar prior to leaving who offered us a dessert. However, at this point we were too disgusted with the service that we couldn't bring ourselves to stay. On a positive note, the lamb kabab loaded fries...

The Queen Inn Restaurant and Bar in Cwmbran is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for a remarkable dining experience.
Let's talk about the food - their vegan options are simply outstanding! As a vegan, I often struggle to find restaurants that truly understand how to craft delicious and satisfying plant-based dishes, but Queen Inn exceeded all expectations. Each bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the creativity and skill of their chefs. Whether it was the Vegan Sunday lunch, Crispy Chilli Beef and other delicious mains, or moreish desserts, every dish was a delightful journey for the palate.
But it's not just the food that shines at Queen Inn; the service is equally exceptional. All the staff members (Ryan, Jane, and Zade) I encountered have been superb, attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. It's evident that they take pride in what they do, and it truly enhances the overall dining experience. A massive thank your team for all they do!
What's more, I recently had the pleasure of booking a birthday celebration at Queen Inn, and I must say, they exceeded all expectations in making it extra special. From helping with the arrangements to knowing they'll providing impeccable service during the event. I know they will be leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that it was a memorable occasion for everyone involved. Also, they are dog friendly which is amazing!
Overall, my experience at The Queen Inn was nothing short of extraordinary. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking delicious vegan food, exceptional service, and a memorable dining experience. Keep up the phenomenal work, Queen Inn - you've won me over as a...
Read moreIncredible all vegan menu in an 18th century pub with beautiful views and surrounded by very tall trees and stream. The Queen Inn has been voted the best vegan restaurant in the UK and Europe, 4th best in the world. Once you taste the meat free food you will see why it's No1! I have never been in such a dog friendly pub than this, on sitting down the friendly waitress said the dog was allowed on the seated area, provided a fleece blanket and doggy treat. There is also a vegan menu for your dog. My little Westie, Walter enjoyed his very first ice cream and he lapped it up, just as quick as I devoured the marbled steak. The locals were very friendly and welcoming, all saying hello and even happy new year. The waitress was wonderful, explaining the history of the pub and how the vegan pub come steak restaurant has taken the country by storm. She explained that people are coming from all over the UK to experience the food. Some come in camper vans and the landlord provides electric hook ups, so they can stay overnight. One couple stayed for four days in order to sample everything on the menu. Honestly the food is that good! It deserves a Michelin Star ⭐. I live just over the mountain and I promise you I will be going back there every time I eat out. No more sickly Quorn over priced rubbish again! I can't speak highly enough, it's great value and even non-vegan eaters will not be disappointed, as they will not be able to tell the difference on some of the meals. My wife and mother both meat eaters had the lasagne and they were left dumbfounded and said it tasted better than meat versions. You've got to try this gem yourselves, but keep it secret as it's hard to get a booking because it's that good. Bon...
