Lovely breakfasts and warm atmosphere in the heart of Allendale
During our two-day stay in Allendale we had breakfast twice at Emma’s Tea Rooms. Emma is friendly, welcoming and has a great sense of humour, which makes the place feel instantly warm and relaxed.
The Tea Rooms are set in a beautiful old English house right on the market square, in the heart of the village. It’s the kind of place that captures everything you hope to find in the English countryside: charm, friendliness and really good food.
On our first morning we had omelettes with fillings of our choice, freshly made and full of flavour. On our second day, our last in England, we went for a traditional English breakfast with fried bread. Everything was fresh, tasty and clearly made with care.
The homemade cakes looked absolutely delicious, and it’s a pity we didn’t have the chance to try them. That alone is a perfect reason to come back. Emma’s Tea Rooms are truly worth a detour if you’re travelling through Northumberland or the Pennines. Highly recommended.

This is a fairly new business ran by Emma (not to be mistaken for the caffe next door which has the name Emma) as soon as we entered the tea rooms we were greeted with a smile. But this time we only had scones and Victoria sponge, Emma made the scones herself which were very tasty. I would certainly recommend trying the Alandale Tea Rooms and I will certainly call in again when we...

Pasta twists that made it somewhat unpleasant-and unexpected. (Isnt a 'broth' clear and chunky?). And the fact it was almost cold. Even when reheated, I don't think it reached the legally-required temperature-it was warm at best. However, the service was fine, ditto the surroundings, the staff friendly, the portion of hubby's homemade corned beef pie very generous...and the homemade...
