Some good aspects are the soft play slide for older kids. It's a shame that the soft play area is separate to the bar area as supervision is difficult and there is no separate baby/ toddler area. Older kids were running around, climbing on top of the slides and being dangerous but that's down to lack of parental involvement. Zero monitoring by staff and there was lots of damaged areas that could be quite dangerous. My one year old got knocked down - the whole soft play is a bit dusty and worn so not an ideal place to visit but ok if desperate! Also on the website it states soft play is free when eating - they didn't honour this and just said it was outdated! So expect to pay extra.
When we arrived the only free table was soaked with previous occupant spillage. When I informed the staff (who were idle and not busy) I was handed kitchen roll and expected to clean it up myself!! Not great customer service. Still persevered. Staff just aren't overly friendly or enthusiastic I found.
Plentiful food at quite good prices. Facilities are good and I can imagine summer is fun in the pool. I didn't like seeing a Macaw parrot in such a small cage, covered by a cloth as scared of the noise of the pub. Not the place for such an intelligent bird.
Could do with a cash injection, but would probably visit again, due to location to...
Read moreDisgusting. Booked for a weekend end at the end of July. The site manager insisted on cash for our stay so we paid for two nights. The first two hook ups we tried did not work. Large group all male party at in the middle of the site smoking gear. They were racing their cars up and down all night, drinking and taking drugs, partying all hours. This site claims to be a family site. Tried to ring site manager but no answer. Next morning the shower was covered in sick, Guys were now using the female toilets (no loo roll). Only two toilet and shower cubicles for each gender for the entire site! Facilities were very poor. It is £4 each to use the very uninviting pool and now only boasts one eating establishment (two still showing on the website), which we did not try. We rammed everything in our car as quickly as possible. We were so desperate to leave we did not even request a refund although once we were on site and he had our money we could not get hold of him anyway)! If you would like more revealing/accurate reviews other than the two that have rated it on Google? - please refer to the UK Campsites website where there are plenty that we agree with. We did take photographs but unfortunately cannot find anywhere to attach them. Will post...
Read moreWhat a shame this place was. Driving into Burgh Hall my wife and I said what an amazing looking place and the potential be an absolute wonderful country wedding/restaurant business. Going in straight away the decor was hideous. Old and outdated. The seating area again poor decor and old tables and chairs. Few windows to brighten up the place would be good but not sure about the exterior for that. The food... terrible. Soup of the day was Tomato. Bland, thin and obviously very cheaply shop bought. Children has sausage and chips and that was half dozen cocktail sausages fried. Again obviously bought cheap. Mixed grill with homemade wedges. Tasted like old potatoes again thrown into the deep fryer. And the salad was again very bland and nothing to rave about. Not their fault at all but felt the staff knew it wasn't that good and were cheerful and friendly to try and give some shining light somewhere. The play area for kids is huge and will keep them busy but very smelly and stuffy in there. Whoever the owner is of this place has a goldmine in their hands. Like I said, with the right investment it could such a wonderful place to have a wedding day or...
