we booked a week on the south broads mid May. due to covid and places just staring to open up, i called ahead to ensure they were doing food. we moored up early afternoon and called them at 3:30 to order some dinner. we were told that the restaurant was no longer serving food. i explained i had called before and understood food was being served until 4pm and that we were moored up outside. they just said that all the food was gone! this was obviously not the case as we could see people were being served food for at least another hour from where we were moored. Luckily we had some emergency supplies and sorted ourselves out. things then went downhill. there were a table of guys outside, drinking all afternoon and getting louder by degrees the more they drunk. Don't get me wrong, under different circumstances i would probably have been sitting there with them enjoying a few beers. the trouble was the language and the topic of conversion became very obnoxious making my wife (a good Essex girl) very uncomfortable to the point where she went and sat inside. not until 9pm did the manager come out to ensure they finally left, although they left on pushbikes and we could still hear them 30 mins later as they fell off every 10 yards. I dont have a problem with the drunk locals, i see it is as the responsibility of the landlord to ensure some order on their premises so all patrons can enjoy. also to be more accommodating to those on boats, unless you put those arriving by road over those...
Read moreWe had heard good reviews about the new management and I'm always reluctant to give a poor review but after our visit today, I have to say I was disappointed. We had booked a table and ordered the "Sunday Roast". This is advertised on the website as "roast of the day with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables" and the price was advertised as £10.95. Initially, there was a bit of a problem at the till as this item wasn't on there. We were then charged £12.95 each. When I questioned it, the message relayed back from the kitchen was "The website is wrong, its £12.95!" No apologies or anything. We decided to see what the food was like. We had chicken, fresh vegetables and new potatoes, all good quality and nicely cooked but no roast potatoes or Yorkshire pudding. I asked about roast potatoes and the message from "him" in the kitchen was "No that's it!" Vegetables and potatoes were all piled together in one dish with no serving spoons. We weren't asked if it was all ok and made our escape before they could offer us any dessert as they had taken our money up front. Again, nice food but check what you are getting and how much they are going to...
Read moreWhilst on holiday 2021 (end of July) me and my father took a walk to the Roman fortress. Walking a little further we were at the water's edge and decided to walk along it via a sort of man made path. Say the end we came to the Fisherman's Inn stopped off for a drink, as it would be reused not to!! Whilst the drinks are a tad expensive, it was alright. There are 3 outside sitting areas. Just a couple of benches and can smoke Lovely decked area screened off with glass sides and is a non-smoking area Another decked area with glass panels and is an area for smoking as well. All 3 are at the located at the back overlooking the river and scenery and directly next to eachother. They offer free WiFi also with the password wrote on a board. They offer food which I believe it's served all day, but I am not 💯 on this. We did not order any food when visiting, but from what we saw, the food looked good with generous portions. If you are in the area I would recommend popping in for a drink and food. They have a carpark that is easily accessible and hold a good number of cars and the also have a number of disabled parking as well. Definitely...
