What a gem of a pub! We must have passed this pub many times before but have not until today been inside. It is much older than it looks from the roadside and full of charm. I imagine it would be very cosy on a winter's night with a pint in one of the snugs. We sat in the small secluded garden at the back.

In an area where most pubs offer more or less the same menu it is refreshing to find one that is doing its own thing. We ordered the chicken curry and the Clandon pie, which was clearly homemade (by a chef who has been at the pub 27 years, I was told), unusual, and delicious. All topped off with a pint of Youngs for me and a half a Shere Drop for my wife, both well kept.

The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We'll be back. Highly...

A friendly and inviting pub. We looked around for a nice place to neck a few pints and were discouraged by all the laminate floor, chicken goujon restaurants posing as pubs, before rocking up at this gem of a hostelry. We were in between lunch and dinner but the barkeep was more than obliging and asked the chef to rustle us up a delicious cheese sandwich which we washed down with a couple of pints of the local Shere Drop ale. Had a good old natter with the local golfers and farmers and bought a couple of books for charity from the bookcases out the back. Went back the next day and helped in incrementally emptying the Shere Drop barrel once more....

It has a lovely old world feel and charm to the place. Not many pubs like this still exist, but sadly the food and drinks could do with an overhaul. Whereas the pub exudes charm the drinks are stuck in the 80s, as sadly is the food. Plus there's no phone reception or WiFi available. This place seems dated compared to all the pubs that surround it. Great if that's what you want, but there are some amazing new breweries springing up. Hopefully they can tap into that market? Update still no phone reception, which is vaguely understandable, but to still have no WiFi a year later is almost inexcusable. There is no data...

Have always passed this pub on our way to Shere but never got around to actually popping in. On our way back from Shere today we decided to pay a visit. What a simply delightful quintessential English pub this is. Wooden beams, fairy lights and candles around the fireplace. The lunch menu looked good and they are known apparently for their magnificent pies, although on this occasion we only had a drink and a portion of chips. The Staff were very friendly and welcoming , and although the pub was busy it was not overcrowded. Would highly recommend a lunchtime visit to this little hidden Surrey Gem.

A nice little pub. Really friendly landlady. Came here the week after lockdown was lifted, so outdoor service only, but that was fine given the weather. Serves locally produced Shere Drop ale, and due to limited staff the on the day food was limited to variations on a jacket potatoe, nothing special, but I felt they did their best under the circumstances. Would definitely return.
