Wow. What an incredible transformation of the king William pub. A LOT of hard work has gone in and you can clearly tell that by general presentation of the pub itself. I had the pleasure of going to the open event on the 1st of May 2024.
Drinks - There is a very impressive selection of drinks, including a very own King William IV Ale! Which I’m not going to lie.. had hit the spot quite nicely whilst the sun was shining on the lovely new garden. A handy selection of 0.0% alcoholic drinks available and a great selection of Spirits, mermaid gin is the one to try!
Food - Although launched with a reduced menu until Friday 3rd May to which I cannot wait to try. The kitchen team have done a brilliant job and had some lovely bar type snacks hot and cold available. Now if you ever get stuck for choice I recommend the cauliflower bar type snack that was to DIE for! Look out for the release of the menu as I could imagine it will be the very first place you decide to book on your time off for a lovely meal and there’s no doubt that that will be provided!
Atmosphere - Honestly, I was stunned when I walked in, it reminded me of that typical feeling you get when all your trouble's just slip away. The attention to detail in the decoration, the layout even the new toilets! A long tables bar that has the perfect reach around to which you’ll always know, busy times it won’t take you long to get served. I don’t think I have ever seen a pub with such a spread of accessibility to get a drink! The garden in the next few months.. will be INCREDIBLE. What a nice sun catcher it is!
Service - Before I digest into in my opinion how well covered the pub is in relation to service, I’d like to point out how great it is to see young members working, it’s hard sometimes for young members to get work experience in busy industries but it’s lovely to see the pub putting back into the community. Service was outstanding, it was my grandmas birthday and we were well catered for! Quick and easy service and just felt looked after throughout
Look, I could go on and on, anything to take from my review is to go and try it out cause I can assure you, you will not be disappointed
To the king William IV staff thank you for providing a lovely pub for the community you’re...
Read moreGood portions, nice beer garden with functional toddler play area but unfortunately food lacks in quality.
Attended at 11:30 as per opening times. The kitchen didn't open until 12. So 30 mins wait for kitchen to open and another 20 mins for food to be made. Wife ordered giant club sandwich, I ordered the Billy burger and we ordered chicken nuggets for my little one.
I have to say that the club sandwich was a hit. Good portion, well made and excellent value for money. The only advice I would give them to make it even better is to grill the outer bread. All meals came with chips which were cooked well.
My burger was unfortunately disappointing. The provided coleslaw was over Creamy with a sour after taste and the burger had a cook from frozen taste. It did not agree with my stomach. My little ones chicken nuggets had a fish after taste. Seems the same old oil is reused for various dishes.
Overall, I would say the food was only slightly better than food you can get from weatherspoons.
One of the reason I attended this pub was the advertised beer garden and the advertised children's garden. Whilst the beer garden is nice I have to say that this children's garden was very much a let down. It is all very worn and very muddy. A quick hose rinse wouldn't hurt. The equipment is very basic toddler orientated. My 3 year old got bored after 10 minutes.
At the end there was a service charge automatically added to the bill. A bit cheeky considering food service took so long.
Also for the those that are interested, this pub does NOT give emergency services / Blue Light Card (BLC) /...
Read morePot luck choosing the King William IV from many available options in the area. Very glad we did. First things first, a warm and friendly welcome, followed by a first. Asked for a pint of bitter, the young guy pulling the pint said he didn't like the look of it - a tiny bit cloudy. He poured himself a further bit into a small glass and tasted it, said he wasn't happy with it, would I mind taking a seat whilst they changed the barrel!! Never ever experienced that level of care over a pint before. End result, an absolutely perfect pint of beer to go with lunch. Lunch, which was fab. Daughter had a steak. Pub steak can be extremely variable, this couldn't be faulted, first rate and cooked perfectly. The triple cooked chips that went with it were again - unlike many disappointing claims to be serving these elsewhere - exactly right and very more ish - everything a pub chip should be! I had liver and bacon. It came the black pudding mash - I'll definitely be trying to copy this at home, kale and crispy sage leaves and onions. This dish was perfectly balanced and very well cooked and presented. It was so good I wasn't jealous of the perfect steak my daughter was enjoying! Puddings were fine as well. Ended up asking about possible accommodation - thinking of a future gastronomic break with my wife - unfortunately they don't have any!! As you might have gathered, five stars for the King William IV - thanks for providing such a fine "last supper" for our current...
