We had a great experience here the other day. This cafe restaurant was busy so we had to park a newlands corner across the road. The staff were friendly and even though it was busy the service was quick.
We both ordered burgers for lunch, which cost £16 each. My own burger was the plucky pheasant beef burger, with cheddar and chilli jam. This was a mighty burger, that had a great taste, texture and was filled with toppings. It came with crispy french fries and a salad.
Loved this burger! My other half ordered the Southern fried chicken burger which was also good, though not as epic as the beef burger.
Worth knowing this is a dog friendly cafe, and at busy times like this there were about 10 dogs in the tented area where we were seated. All well behaved and a joy to see 😀
Updating based on our second trip here, as ever great atmosphere and place to get some excellent food. This time around I had a Moroccan lamb sandwich which was superbly tasty, my other half had the chicken panini which she wasn't too impressed by. The salad dressing looked a bit strange but worked well flavour wise . We sat indoors to order lunch, it was cosy, the staff were friendly as usual and food...
Read moreExtremely disappointed that this local cafe does not cater fully for those who are coeliac. I just called the Plucky Pheasant to ask if they have gluten free options for English breakfast/ brunch. The response was that they have gluten free bread and could swap items like their sausages, which have gluten, for other items! This did NOT reassure me. Why should those who are coeliac have to substitute items such as sausages? I suggested that they catered properly for those who are coeliac as it isn't out of choice but a necessary dietary requirement due to their health condition. Having gluten free sausages on their menu is NOT a big ask!! I also explained that it's not just a matter of having those gluten free products but also ensuring that there is no cross contamination. I'm surprised and saddened that I have had to raise this at such a longstanding establishment who really should be...
Read moreMy partner and I were here last summer and had an enjoyable lunch. We were looking forward to coming back for a breakfast as my partner is vegan and we had seen a vegan breakfast. My breakfast was absolutely fine, but for some reason they didn't offer a vegan breakfast like we had seen on the online menu and when questionned, staff told me they never did a vegan breakfast. My partner had to settle for beans on toast ahead of a 6 hour motorcycle trip. Now that we're back home, there's a vegan breakfast on their weekend menu. Ok, our visit was midweek, but to tell us they never did a vegan breakfast was discraceful, they could have been a little more helpful. I did enjoy my breakfast, the food was excellent, but it was tainted by the fact that my partner had to sit there with beans on toast after we'd made a...
