Vale Cafe — Restaurant in Guildford

Let me start by saying don’t be put off by the bad reviews, most of them are because they don’t accept card, only cash or bank transfer. Which I think is great, cash is king, & too many people have succumb to this digital lifestyle after all the fear mongering Covid nonsense the government was spewing whilst they partied away in secret.

Stopped here for breakfast/lunch one day was I was working in the area. Food is very good, it is your traditional greasy cafe without the grease. Good quality & good value, they use good bread, toasted perfectly & buttered generously. Chips cooked spot on, golden brown & still crispy, Good portions & a nice clean atmosphere. WiFi as well.

Cash only. So order food when starving, present card to pay and then told no cards, only cash. In this day in age, and at a time where places are refusing to accept cash and saying cards only, they say no cards only cash. Drives me absolutely bonkers. Aside to that, one female member of staff rushed off her feet, spoke poor english, didn't bring the drinks that were paid for, and then our ommlettes arrived and couldn't have been more plain and boring looking. Not impressed at all - went in this morning, no soya milk or oat milk, (but I understand that a lot of places don’t provide these), what I don’t understand, is the snappy attitude when I asked for a glass of water! I was given it, it was hot, I told the guy and he snatched it off me, tutted and gave me another warm one! My friend went in to order food, he was extremely rude to her, snapped that they don’t take card, and then came out, snatched the tap water off our table, tutted again and shook his head at us!
