We were recommended this beautiful rural pub by another pub near the football grounds of Harborough FC. We're so glad we visited!
The pub is down a no-through road in the village, theres a beautifully designed covered outdoor area with a bbq and further up to the left on a raised area is a beautiful landscaped grass area with picnic tables and umbrellas.
Inside, it's elegant yet cozy, a warm vibe in here, the staff are exceptionally friendly and professional and the locals were just as lovely too. We had a great conversation with two locals who are knowledgeable about the surrounding area and very well travelled too, they really made our vist a bit more special, thank you !
The food is excellent quality and tasty, I had the Lasagne (creamy, comforting, lovely flavours) and my man had the Steak Pie (lots of meat and the vegetables were just right).
The Summer Pudding was superb, lots of berries, moist bread, and served with a delicious coulis.
We are West Ham fans and there are two tvs in the pub - one in the main area, with 4 tables that side, the other tv is in a lovely snug area, with 2/3 tables.
Neither TV is in-your-face, the quality of picture was excellent and the noise was very low which we prefer and didn't intrude into conversations.
My partner found a dart board in the snug and we had fun playing darts badly 😅 We also found board games too, which I thought was a lovely touch.
I truly recommend this...
Read moreMy 2 companions and I had a delicious meal here on Saturday night - we'd never been before so went on "spec" after reading the many positive reviews.
Well, the food was amazing, all the starters - goat's cheese tartlet, yummy creamy stilton with mushrooms and mint pea and ham soup went down a treat.
However, although our friend's gammon, egg and chips were great, my partner and I were disappointed with our lamb tagine. The meal itself was delicious but although advertised with couscous ( the traditional accompaniment) it was served with a very bland white rice. To me - it was like serving roast beef and no Yorkshire Pudding, and if I had known I wouldn't have chosen it. When I asked later why we had rice I was told "they must have run out of couscous".
I don't want to seem "picky" , as it was one of the nicest meals I've ever had anywhere, and the atmosphere was perfect (although the service a little slow - but they were busy).
I'd like to have left a 4.5 rather than a 4 on food and service, and I will certainly come back.

Read moreWe visited this pub last year and had a fabulous meal so thought we would go back. Arrived and sat in the garden, got some drinks and was told to wait 10-15 minutes before we could order food, went in after the prescribed time and was told to come back in 10-15 minutes as the kitchen was too busy, went back again and was told we still couldn't order and we hadn't waited 15 minutes, very rude to my wife. Finally went in and was nearly told again we couldn't order and after explaining how many time we tried to order the young lady finally took our order after a kerfuffle with the landlord and a number of staff. Food arrived and was OK but nowhere near as good as prevoius visit. Such a shame as we had been looking forward to it and I hate leaving bad reviews. Surely you should explain to people you are busy and take their order and place it in a queue. Sorry but...
