CANTEEN CAFFE — Restaurant in Harlow

Love this place. We go once a week as a treat & despite the one minor error on a bill during a busy period & a forgotten item on a food order, easily & quickly rectified, never had cause to seriously complain. The food is great, typical of what you find in most cafes; sides prices are a bit pricey, but the portions are good & there's plenty of choice. Kids meals are huge. My favourite is the grilled chicken sandwich with salad. Staff are friendly, cleanest toilets of any cafe I've frequented. Quick service too, even during busy times. 16 of us piled in there today for my birthday & no-one waited more than 10 mins for their meal. The poor cook! One tiny moan, the breakfasts come with a tea/coffee, yet my Mum doesn't drink tea & is allergic to coffee, but there's no alternative. Surely a glass of milk, squash, fruit juice or hot chocolate could be offered for those alike. We always have a coffee, but order a bottle of apple juice as well, at an extra...

Ive read afew reviews before i got here. Most said lovely food and good price. As my regular hazels kitchen was closed i thought id give them a try. Service was good, polite. I ordered a big breakfast i received it in 4-5 mins which is good. Once i received my breakfast i was in shock. My mushrooms was literally swimming in oil. Wasnt even touching the plate. Just floating. Eggs where also covered in oil. If i wanted diabetes on a plate i would Have asked. Anyways. I took my plates and cups up to the counter and they did say thank you very much, but then he asked if i was turkish, i said yes i am,then he said what kind of turk are you. You dont look turkish at all. I was very offended as i am very proud to be turkish. I paid £8.20 For a horrible breakfast and left. Seriously guys if you want your breakfast to be floating in oil then this is your place. Get some fried slice...

So I work near here and I forgot to bring my own lunch to work so I found this little place online and saw how many great reviews this place had and I thought I would check it out. Honestly it's average at best, i had a roll with bacon, sausage and grilled onions with a side of chips. Everything in the roll was okay, other than the sausage was a bit burned, the chips were clearly frozen as well so they tasted bland. The service was slow but it was the lunch time rush so I will let that slide, the restaurant was extremely clean and staff were friendly, just the food kind of let it down.
