āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø What a Cracking Little Pub!

The Fox & Goose is an absolute gem! From the second we walked in, we got the warmest welcome—felt like we’d just strolled into a mate’s living room (if that mate had top-notch beer on tap). The atmosphere was buzzing with friendly regulars who made us feel right at home straight away.

It’s a small, cosy spot, but the service? Honestly better than what you’d get in some swanky five-star restaurant. The food was banging—proper hearty stuff that hits the spot—and the beers went down way too easily (which worked out nicely since we could crash overnight in our campervan… bonus round of pints, anyone?).

Massive shout-out to the ladies behind the bar—absolute stars with top banter, brilliant food recommendations, and just generally made the whole experience a good laugh.

Can’t rate this place highly enough. Great food, great people, and a proper friendly vibe. Already planning our next visit. Cheers for an...

We went there with a bigger group at 12 on BH Monday. We were told that we have to wait about 45-50 minutes for the food. After waiting that long they showed up with 4 out of 5 ordered child meals. The last one was served the latest, after all adult meals were served and approximately 15 minutes after the other children received their orders ( and already finished up their meals) all orders were placed at the same time upon arrival. The waiter didn't look too bothered about the wait or the mess up( as it clearly looked like they forgot about the last kids meal), couldn't even bothered to bring us the spoons for the kids what he said he would bring us, when he asked if we needed anything. I had a burger which was below average, would expect more from a country pub, the condiments are the horrible sachet ones. The playground is nice, the location is great, food and service...

Always enjoyed coming to this pub in the past ,but our visit after a gap of 18 months was hugely disappointing. The menu was a set price regardless of content ,.We chose the burger ,which was tasty but arrived looking very basic and under whelming, no relish no fried onions ,any additions cost extra ,the accompanying salad was all shredded to bits with a small cherry tomatoes cut in half. Deserts were expensive ,Ā£9 for a basic chocolate brownie . Such a shame as it used to be great value here ,we appreciate that country pubs are struggling but it's off putting to increase prices and offer less ,the prices didnt match the venue or the quality ,quantity and presentation . Other pubs we visit have also marked up the prices on their menus which we are happy to pay because its worth it ,but sorry...

We really enjoyed visiting this place. I recommend The Fox & Goose 100%. This is the ideal place to visit if one is walking along The Basingstoke Canal. It is going to be closed for a month. I am under the impression that it shall be in August. Thus, it is prudent to check. The members of staff were very friendly and they all had a good sense of humour. It is a welcoming atmosphere and it was very clean. ***We visited this place again in July 2022. The person who runs this place stated that the renovations shall not take place in August, but they have been postponed. The place was more crowded than it had been on previous occasions. I also added a few photographs. We really appreciated the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.***

Oh dear, this is not a good place to eat. Booked a table for two and they sat us between the swing door of the kitchen and the toilet, charming! It was a busy Friday evening (they have a camp site next door); the waitresses were running outside to grab bags of frozen chips from the off site freezer. The door was swinging back and forth constantly. I ordered a 'six hour slow cooked ribs' from the special board. There was nothing special about it. It was accompanied, about two minutes later with a limp salad, chips(obv frozen) and a pathetic attempt at homemade coleslaw. There was no care or love gone into our meals at all. A memorable dining experience for all the wrong reasons, I'd give it a wide berth if I was you.

First time visited, well impressed from the moment we were greeted at the outside reception by such friendly staff. We had booked, (certainly recommended as a steady flow of customers) and was shown to an outside adults only section away from the kids play area (which looked superb) Very hot on their COVID cleaning which was good to see. Due to COVID restrictions (April 2021) it was full table service, which you couldn't fault, food was amazing, good choice on the menu. Loved all the fairy lights although on would look fantastic in the evening. Can't wait to return.
