This lovely little country pub really is a hidden gem ! We called to see if they were able to fit in a party of 10 on a Sunday last minute . The staff were so friendly and helpful, our food was served promptly and all together . It really was amazing, well presented, hot, home cooked and so tasty . The delicious homemade apple and blackberry crumble was made from fruit grown in the garden ..... you can't get much fresher or locally sourced than that . We ate in the lovely outside area, there were out door games for the children to play with and we all enjoyed some much needed family time . We can't wait to come back...
Read moreAfter hearing management had moved from Six Bells to here, we popped in for Sunday lunch. Greeted by a good roast dinner that included some cauliflower cheese. The beef was ok but not amazing.Nicely roasted, potato,carrots, sweet potato and even asparagus. Some fried greens added some much needed colour. Topped with big Yorkshire and tasty gravy. However, the dish was crying out for some simple fresh green vegetables such as peas, broccoli beans etc. Not only for colour and texture but also maybe a bit healthier! The food was excellent – the beef was beautifully cooked, and the trio of meats (beef, lamb, and chicken) was equally delicious. For dessert, the lemon drizzle slice with custard (or ice cream) was the perfect finish. The welcome was warm from the moment we arrived. The staff were attentive and personable, and the landlord took the time to chat with us about how he’d taken over the pub just the year before.
