First visit to celebrate a postponed father's day. Unfortunately, the experience did not leave me with a desire to return.

The first issue was the car park, it took 20 minutes to get a spot. This was partly not helped by other drivers not using any common sense, however, the lack of spaces compared to the seating offered inside and the layout are obvious problems.

Second, we ordered drinks and food as you usually would. Our starters arrived and they were very tasty, I highly recommend the brie. Annoyingly, our drinks did not arrive until we had finished our first course (we were informed this was a problem in the bar), 45 minutes after sitting down. We had to chase staff to find the drinks. Our server was very apologetic and removed the drinks from our bill which was a very welcome gesture.

I had a roast for my main which overall I can happily say was delicious. There was one problem, my Yorkshire had been cooked to the point it was black on top and had very little taste remaining. I thought to ask for a new one, although, after witnessing another patron have issues with there's I did not see the point. The other patron asked for a new Yorkshire after seeing the top was cooked but the inside still had uncooked batter. The second arrived with the exact same problem, leaving me with no desire to wait for a second myself. A shame as Yorkshire's are a favourite.

On top of this, we had another problem pop up. We ordered desserts and waited patiently for these. After some time, we sought out our server and asked them to check on this. A few minutes later the server came over to inform us the dessert was no longer available due to stock running out, and the kitchen had failed to pass this information on to the serving team after the order had gone through. As another gesture of apology the drinks we ordered with dessert were also removed from the bill.

Overall, I would compliment the food and floor service, especially our server who kept on top of all the issues we experienced. The building also had a wonderful atmosphere and is beautiful to admire. However, communication from other departments needs to be improved. A 2 hour sitting turned into 3, with most of this time spent waiting. If these issues are resolved I'd be...

Oh dear, it pains me to write this review after a very disappointing experience at the Mill last night. We had previously had a very good lunch here about six months ago. We’d booked a table for four people at 7pm. We ordered drinks at the bar to take to our table which included a bottle of wine. The two glasses offered for the wine were dirty and we had to ask for them to be changed. Our orders at the table were taken promptly enough and the two starters arrived reasonably quickly but we endured an unreasonably long wait for our main courses. We had to ask more than once as to when our food was going to arrive to be told firstly it was “five minutes away” then that this was an error and our food was again “five minutes away”. The reason for the delay was apparently staffing issues with the chef going sick and the manager having to run the kitchen. The food when it eventually arrived was fair but not great. We also ordered additional drinks that we had to ask for again and in frustration I ended up going up to the bar to get the Peroni that hadn’t appeared. Now in defence of the Mill the staff were apologetic and took some items off the bill (when they eventually gave me the correct one 🙄) but only after I’d suggested given the delays and errors this was the least they could do. The staff were always polite but we didn’t seem to have one specific waiter or waitress which was frustrating. The other thing was the mess of paper towels outside the toilets that really should have been cleaned up. Based on our experience we won’t be rushing back which is a shame as it’s a...

The Mill House, a quintessential English pub left me spellbound with its exceptional culinary offerings and enchanting atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside the old listed building, adorned with oak beams and a charming timber floor, I knew I was in for a delightful experience. Let's start with the food, which was nothing short of excellent. The Sunday roast, featuring succulent lamb, was a masterpiece on a plate. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with flavors that danced on the palate. Each element of the dish, from the crispy roast potatoes to the delectable Yorkshire pudding, was crafted with care and attention to detail. The generous portions left me satisfied and yearning for more at the same time. The ambiance of The Mill House is a true testament to its historical charm. The oak beams overhead added a rustic touch, creating an inviting and warm atmosphere. It has a beautiful outside seating area and garden, adorned with vibrant flowers and complemented by a tranquil pond. The service at The Mill House was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. The staff's genuine passion for hospitality was evident, further enhancing the overall enjoyment of the visit. It is a testament to the rich heritage and culinary traditions of England, offering exceptional food in a captivating environment. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone seeking a taste of old-world charm and...

Really pretty location. The pub/restaurant is impressive inside. Unfortunately lack of staff today ment we could only eat if seated indoors which on such a beautiful day was a shame, the room we sat in was was nice but when more people came in it became loud and echoy which made the rest of our experience sightly negative as we could barley talk to each other over the noise from the other guests. I would recommend the room be used for just one party of people and not multiple as it's a small room and difficult to make work with too many people. Food was lovely, good quality but our food was served with no cutlery so we had to go and find it and no sauces were offered once the food had be put down on the table so we had to go back and ask for that too. For the price we paid I would have expected better service, perhaps to go slightly above the below standard service we received. The outside area here is absolutely beautiful, with things for the children to do and its dog friendly! also you can see the old mill wheel downstairs which is lovley to see. For a drink and a seat outside on a beautiful day I would highly recommend it, food service not so much.

Location and food top marks. Two points lost for two reasons. Orders for the garden have to be made at the Gin bar in the garden. No list of beers available at point of order and it was not possible to select and order a beer at the bar. This could have been avoided by having a list of beers at the order point. I had to make three trips to get a beer, one to the gin bar, one to the bar inside and a third to the gin bar to order it. The second point lost is really poor. After eating in the garden we moved to a bench by the water. I kept an eye out for the waitress who saw me but stood and waited at the table rather than deliver my drink to the bench which is about 20 paces away. In summary two points lost, one for a missing piece in the process and one for poor people service by someone who should have done their job and waited (or waitressed in this case). The table number was 123 and the visit was on 22nd September 2020.
