This is truly the worst experience I have had when going out to a pub. I came to the lakes for a lovely weekend break with my daughter and this is how it started, with complete utter disrespect and horror. I ordered fish and chips and the chips were absolutely Awful. Never tasted anything like it, and the mushy peas looked like they had been warmed up in the microwave about 5 times and they had been frozen. So I complained to the waiter in which his reply was that he’ll tell the chef. 20 mins later and we had heard nothing, not even a sorry. So my daughter went to the bar to tell the bar tender and his attitude was disgusting. He told me he’s never had a complaint before and that I had in fact ate my chips when neither me or my daughter had! He was shouting at us and had a really bad temper with us. So I asked to see the manager and could hardly get a word in edge ways with the bartender basically screaming at us. How the owner let this happen, I do not know. It even took the manager 15 minutes to come and see us as he was ‘putting his children to bed’. This is truly a Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen nightmare hell! The food was the worst I’ve ever tasted and don’t get me started on the staff. The nicest person and most helpful was a friend of there’s who was apologetic and wanted to buy us a drink, even then, the bar tender was going mad saying we are not getting any drinks. I think this would have been a different story if I hadn’t have payed first before eating. Only come to this place if you want disgusting food and abuse off its staff. A place can only improve by listening to its complaints..no wonder there was...

The decor in the Anglers Arm pays homage to both the local fisheries and also the now defunct steam railway line. I say 'defunct' but you can (as we did) enjoy a 35 minute steam train ride from Haverthwaite to the Acquatic Lakes from where you can do a cruise on lake Windermere to Bowness. But I digress:
Once inside the Anglers Arms you met by a family oriented approach to customer services as you are warmly welcomed by both the ambience as well as the menu and specials. We had the meatballs and mash and chicken skewers which we learnt - as we were told, all the foid served - was made on site using local ingredients including herbs clearly visible around the front of the pub.
The food was incredibly delicious: absolutely delicious. The portions are just right and very, very filling. The puddings were just as great, again: all made in house by this lovely couple. To top it all, the price for a 3 course meal for two (starters, mains, dessert a glass of wine and a pint of Guinness) for less than £65. I felt like I robbed them after having such a wonderful experience there. Can't recommend this place...
Read moreStumbled upon the Anglers Arms pub by chance and was met with a warm welcome by all the staff members, whom are also attentive and helpful. The place its self is clean and tidy, it's also decorated nicely with some lovely pieces of memorabilia on the walls and boasts a comfortable atmosphere. The food for me is spot on, hence why it's a popular choice for other diners, so I would advise anyone visiting for food to book in advance. I'd like to give Alan and his family who run the pub a special thank you for going out of their way to ensure myself and everyone attending was comfortable and happy. I would 100% recommend that anyone visiting the area should call in and see for themselves, my friends and I will be visiting again next time we are up in the lakes. Once again thank you to the owners, staff and locals which all helped to make our experience at The Anglers Arms magnificent.
Thank you Marie for your acknowledgement looking forward to seeing you all...
