DAYLIGHT ROBBERY for group bookings.
25 of us booked to go to the Buxton Brewery for a Saturday night. We pre-ordered our meals.
Upon arrival, some of us bought our drinks at the bar. When the majority of the group turned up, they REFUSED to let us buy from the bar and INSISTED we order at the table. We did this.
The bill arrived and was outrageous - they had arbitrarily DOUBLED the cost of some drinks that had been ordered from the table + 10% service charge.
When challenged the manager just turned on the waterworks claiming the group booking was stressful. This is not a reason to charge double for drinks + service charge.
Group bookings are more work, then charge more service charge e.g. 20% - but don't DOUBLE the cost of drinks + service charge and provide no notice that you're going to. That's DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.
Then crying to get away with it.
If your business can't cope with group bookings, DON'T ALLOW GROUPS TO BOOK. If you accept group bookings, tell them you'll be charging DOUBLE for drinks for table service.

An amazing space with spectacular views over open countryside, well organised and friendly staff. Easy online ordering from the table that had a great variety of their excellent beers and alternatives for those who require something else.
