Served 12pm - 7.30pm on Sundays £15 Roast Topside of Beef 28-day aged slow-roasted beef topside, accompanied by thyme & garlic roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, roast parsnip & carrot, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & rich gravy.
Eagerly anticipating a delicious meal before my train to London, I chose this dish.
With three of us dining together, one meal arrived after a lengthy 45 minutes. After waiting an hour, we decided to inquire about the status of the remaining meals. Another 5 minutes passed, and finally, my plate was served. Unfortunately, the cauliflower, sugar snap peas, and cabbage had been boiled to a bland mush, appearing grey and unappetizing. The mashed potatoes felt like filler, while the beef, though tender and falling apart, was served cold. The only bright spot in the meal was the Yorkshire pudding accompanied by rich onion gravy.
After enjoying what I could, we approached the bar to share our disappointment. Although payment is made upon ordering, the staff member offered dessert or a drink as a gesture of compensation. At that point, though, we simply wished to depart. While an alternative was presented, it felt more like an expectation than a true apology for...

Read moreWe called in for tea at this pub . I ordered the steak and ale pie ( which I was told was steak and ale pudding ) with chips peas and gravy. It arrived with burnt wedges , the pudding looked nice till I cut into it - it was hard and the lid of the pudding was hard as if it was a pie. During the meal a staff member did ask if everything was ok and told them about the chips (as at this point I didn’t know about the pie ) she apologised and left , then did return said chef offered to cook some more chips (to which said no as was due to finish and leave) . My wife had the salmon and rice - she basically had a plate of rice and slice/square of salmon on top - which she did say was nice and soft . Don’t think I will be returning here...
