This review would have been one star but mitigated by the fact the pub had been clearly heaving all bank holiday. The beer, albeit limited, was chilled and delicious (neck oil, can't go wrong).
Firstly, hardly anything was available on the menu. In my view they've tried to extend out the menu too much to cover all bases and limiting quality as a result.
The nachos were good (no guac) but not hard to get wrong. Mains were really poor (fish pie and cajun chicken with rice and sauce). Bland and uninviting. The fish pie had 2 tiny prawns in (despite selling it as jumbo King prawns) and some anemic salmon slopped up with mash and a shaving of cheddar. Equivalent to Asdas smart price, I'd say.
Other halves cajun chicken gave the impression of being out of a packet was really watery and tasteless.
Waiting ages for food as well.
Not really one to give negative reviews, the staff were clearly overwhelmed, but we must have caught them on a bad day- wont be...
Read moreThe best aspect of the Parks Inn has to be the staff. They are all so lovely, accommodating, and friendly. The restaurant has a proper family atmosphere which is lovely to see! The owners introduced myself and my partner to the two 'pub dogs', Barney and Luca. The dogs are truly gentle giants, and are so friendly further adding to the lovely atmosphere. The decor in the restaurant was very nice. It has a combination of traditional pub decor with a modern twist. Very tasteful and lovely. To top this off the food was INCREDIBLE! I had the Cheese and Onion Pie whilst my boyfriend had a steak. The chips are so fresh, and delicious, and the pie was one of the BEST pies I've ever had! The staff in the kitchen are truly skilled! Thank you for such a great experience. We'll definitely be back (for the food, the staff, and most importantly Luca and...
Read moreA mate, Stan, me n my dog were having a short break away in the eastern peak district for some walking n pub visits, including New Inn at Flash, separate review. We only nipped into The Parks Inn for a pint to plan where we were going to park up for the night, but were welcomed by very hospitable customers, (incl Andy the walker) Staff and owners Cathy & Chris ? and their large dogs. After another pint of nectar, Bass Bitter, we decided to stay, motorhome parked up safely nearby. We had several more pints of Bass and fantastic home cooked food (steak n Stilton pies) Joined in with the locals n enjoyed the craic n banter, especially with the Ausie Landlord about The Ashes 🏏 Highly recommended, we'll certainly be back when in the area .. 5 🌟 to the whole team ..
