Disappointing, firstly, the pies were both not cooked. They were pale white, we asked to get them cooked, and then came back 2 minutes later piping hot, which obviously had been microwaved the outside was hard. The mash was almost definitely from a packet mixture. However, the lasagna was ok. What did annoy me is a review reply from 3 months ago states that the chips aren't oven baked and the pie is home made and not mass produced which is clearly wrong, the standards have greatly reduced over the years. The ketchup was extremely sour. For the price, it was a rip off, at least we got a refund for the pies. But nothing is as advertised. Do not buy food here. Also, adding to this, the owner is extremely rude, as you can see in the reply. He or she knows we are on a canal boat, so we can't go back and watch, and if we did, you would kick us out. Oh, and that trainee wouldn't be devastated if you would've inspected the pies and said that it is well undercooked or not even cooked, so if he is devastated, it's both of your faults. Here’s an update this pub is still absolutely terrible, never order food here the owners attitude is absolutely shocking, I and my family will never eat or...

owner is rude and agressive ,went to have a lunch time drink sat at the far end of the beer garden waiting for one more person to turn up i had visited macdonalds for my daughter big mistake !!! ,i was not eating and was challenge by the landlord why we were eating in his beer garden,he did not ask if we were drinking i respected his action and said we would leave,i was not a hundred percent sure this was part of the pub but the canel siding.I told him we had eatan and drank there before ,to more verbal attack,he told me he didnt like liars, because i should of known. i could not belive where this was all coming from, like i say we have used the pub before and i thought it was me not undersatnding the guy. However after looking at trip advisor alot of other people have been met with some sort of abuse,WOW this man needs a change in career. Like many i will never use this pub again and tell many...

Absolutely disgusting! Ordered the pork belly only to be served a microwaved piece of wobbly piece of pork jelly. Apparently this is how pork belly is served and they have sold hundreds in the past, "Well, Gail ordered the pork belly tonight and she didn't complain". Was not offered an apology or a replacement meal at first, instead, as arguement with the bar lady about how I should accept the food as there is no other way. Her attitude stank especially as she finally admitted that my meal was just "a bad one". Why was the bloody thing served! Please do not tell me how a pork belly should be cooked and served because I know. I wish I had taken a photo! I Left the place with a sour taste in my mouth, very bitter and angry at the poor poor service and attitude of the staff, oh, and very hungry! My father (who was with us at the time) was a loyal customer but will not be drinking or eating again...

Great pub for a real ale pint while sailing on the Ashby canal. However overall we were disappointed. We had hoped to eat here but contrary to reviews we had read - and contrary to the sign on the pub door - the pub is not fully dog friendly. Dogs are only welcome in the garden which is a shame for a canal-side pub. We found the garden to be a bit scruffy (not beautiful as suggested in some reviews) and it was noisy from the main road adjacent to it. So sadly we did not - could not - eat here on a chilly evening with our well behaved dog. Shame as we do like to support family run pubs.

Came with a friend on a Sunday afternoon, neither had been here before but it's a cosy traditional-style pub, there was a range of drinks available (but sadly we had both driven so had to stick with cokes). The food was really generous (pictured) and tasty! The pie was stuffed with filling and not half air as you sometimes get in some places. They still have some safety measures in place such as masks when moving around indoors, track and trace and hand sanitiser.

What a hidden gem! Set on the canal, decor a little dated, but food and service were excellent. Special shout out to the young barman on his first day.... we weren't the easiest of patrons with one celiac and many demands 😅. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Highly recommended for food and good beer.
