2 stars for the food only because of the garlic naan softness and quality else for others like chicken biryani, chicken garlic mushroom tikka, the quantity was good enough and also for chana paneer as well but taste wise they lacked texture and salt as very less saltiness was there. Coming to the service part, honestly I review almost all the restaurants and places I visit and am flexible with my ratings and all but this was one of the worst services we have faced till date here in UK. It had been more than 15 minutes since we have reached there already but unfortunately, no one came to take up our order on their own and finally I was reluctant to call for one of them to take our order and believe me apart from us, there was only 1 more table filled with 4 people who had almost finished off their meal and were having last sips of their drinks and chatting. I don't understand why the restaurant people took so much time to come to us to take the order although that time wasn't at all a busy hour over there. And on top of it, the food also arrived just on or beyond time which can be pardoned per say but this service should be improved for future to avoid such critical review. Now finally coming to the best part of the restaurant which we liked the most was actually the ambience/atmosphere. The interiors and setip felt like kind of fine dining which was a posh experience so wanted to compliment...
Read moreAfter having moved into the area a couple of weeks ago we decided to give Simla a try for the first time, managed to get a table for 2 as a walk in at about 6.15.very lucky I reckon as within 20 minutes the place was absolutely rammed. We opted for a pint and a half of cobra, love and cold and went down a treat. Ordered 4 popadoms and pickle tray which we were charged for, most curry houses iv been before give at least one free one each and then charge for any extras. Decent pickle tray that accompanied it,I went for the chicken tikka chat and my wife the lamb chops to start. My chicken chat was large, tasty and came with a nice fresh side salad,my wife’s lamb chops came covered In way to much sauce with onion and peppers and the lamb chops came with barely any meat on 2 big bones.she wasn’t a fan. Main course we went for a chicken pathia and I went for a Balti gohst methi(lamb)pilau rice, garlic naan and a paratha. My curry was plentiful with soft lamb pieces but way over powered with lots of onion,my wife’s chicken pathia was nice and tender but the sauce didn’t really taste of anything. Nice fresh rice, average garlic naan, the paratha was hot and fresh and everything I wanted it to be. On whole review,we would come again and try something different on the menu. Service was top class and the speedy. Decent price to for the meal. Will book next time as Iv never seen a place so busy 45 minutes...
Read moreA friend of mine from Shrewsbury was staying in a hotel about 5 miles from here and as I live in Leicester drove over to pick him up ( Danny baby ) and onto a Indian restaurant as we both love a ruby ! Googled Indian restaurants in Hinckley and based on the reviews and photos on Google chose this one. So glad we did, the venue is very nice, staff were great, food was fabulous with massive portions and not overly expensive. We had poppadoms, dips, onion bhaji starter, keema naan each, chicken korai and a first for me , a chicken nihari which was just divine and a mushroom pilau and normal pilau plus a couple of pints of Kingfisher lager and man we ate like Kings!! I couldn't finish mine and asked the waiter if I could take the left overs home ! All placed into a silver take away container including left over keema naan and I am now finishing off my left overs ( nom nom ) as I write this review. Excellent value all around, give Simla a go if you are in the area, highly recommended. Thanks team Simla,...
