I wanted to share some observations from my recent visits to Greggs in Huntingdon and other locations.
I've noticed a concerning lack of hand hygiene practices among the staff. On multiple occasions, I've seen them handle cash—both coins and notes—without washing their hands or using gloves before preparing food. This includes touching rolls and handling bacon directly with their hands, which raises significant hygiene concerns.
Given the potential for germs and bacteria on cash, it seems essential for the staff to adopt stricter hygiene protocols. Implementing measures such as using alcohol gel after handling cash, wearing gloves while preparing food, and ensuring hands are washed regularly could greatly enhance food safety.
It appears that the training and procedures may have lapsed since the end of Covid, and I believe it would be beneficial for Greggs to revisit these practices to ensure customer safety. Unfortunately, I feel compelled to refrain from purchasing food there until I see improvements...
