DO NOT GO HERE. Went in for a nice family meal this Sunday (20/10) and we will not be going back. To begin with the tables were sticky and half the water glasses were dirty.
The kids meals then came out covered in rock salt making them inedible. The manager reluctantly took one back to the kitchen to be replaced. The chef can’t seem to read the word ‘vegan’ when making a chilli but the manager did catch that one before bringing it to the table. That did however leave my sister waiting for a meal that didn’t come out until most of us had finished and that was completely tasteless and inedible.
Whatever batter they use for the onion rings and fish is vile and pink (?) and the fish itself is watery and bland.
To top off the entire experience the manager managed to burn my 6month old nephew. She brought out his chicken nuggets and chips - which were red hot and straight out of the fryer - and put them down on the table in front of him. Reggie grabbed them and let out a scream. We weren’t able to settle him and when we refused to pay for several of the meals the attitude of the manager was appalling (the name on the receipt was Claire but I’m not sure if that was the manager or the young girl serving us).
All she could do was huff, roll her eyes, tut at us and say it wasn’t her fault - how much common sense do you have to have to know not to put red hot food where a baby can reach it?! But there we go.
In short, inedible food and terrible service from...
Read moreWe arranged to have our mums wake following her funeral at The Barley Mow and we were not disappointed one bit. We spoke to a lovely lady Clare a few weeks before who made organising it very straight forward. Date, time, roughly how many, buffet, tea & coffee, biscuits. On the day we could not have been happier, practically all the food was eaten, all our family and friends appeared to enjoy a plateful each. Clare and the staff that were working on the day were brilliant. They accommodated all our guests inside and out in the garden, collecting glasses and empty plates, nothing too much trouble. They even kindly placed our huge photo memory boards of mum on tables for us. We cannot thank you enough Clare and team. You took away all the stress of arranging a funeral wake/reception. We would highly recommend The Barley Mow not just for such occasions but in general as we have eaten there loads of times plus it was our mums favourite place to go for lunch, another reason why there was no hesitation when organising mums wake there. Thank you all so much from all...
Read moreI wouldn’t even give it 1 star. Where do I start, we came for a roast, they had no children’s menu, the food took forever to come, when it finally arrived it was honestly disgusting and inedible. £18 they charge for a roast which I think is quite a high price, but I’m quite happy to pay that if the quality is there but it wasn’t. The lamb was so fatty I couldn’t eat any of it, the broccoli I couldn’t even get my knife through it. We expressed we were unimpressed and they actually argued with us about it, the chef came out and was incredibly rude and absolutely filthy, as was the staff I was genuinely shocked at how they handled the feedback I would never expect to be spoken like that as a paying customer, they pretty much accused us of just coming out not to pay for food which was just ridiculous. It’s one thing to serve terrible food but the level of customer service, was just the icing on the cake. Avoid, avoid, avoid - unless you like awful food and even worse service. No wonder the...
