We called in here on 14th of Apr for Sunday lunch after a recommendation. It was 1.40pm when we arrived and we were given a table for two and informed that because of a large lunch party waiting there would be a wait until they were served. We were ok with that and ordered 2 roast beef lunches. We had a drink and watched the football. It was 2.10pm when the waitress brought our lunches but unfortunately the chef had plated up lamb instead of beef. He had got mixed up. Time was getting on so we accepted the lamb. The appearance looked very basic indeed. Two slices of lamb, which were on the tough side, mixed veg of green beans, peas and three skinny slices of carrot that were swimming in gravy. Three pieces of what looked like roast potatoes which had been kept warm so the outers had gone tough. We persevered and finished what we could. The waitress came over and asked if we would like dessert instead we complained about the quality of the meal along with the chef's mistake. All in all very disappointing. To be fair they halved the price of the bill admitting their errors. Perhaps the whole episode was maybe to do with the chef not being able to cope with the size of the party but he should be able to tell the difference between...

Pub has a well organised Covid safe procedures - ensuring people are signing in, one way system etc.
Food was nice and can't really fault it - not the best we have ever had, but nice..! Felt that kids meals were a bit pricey at Β£5.50 each, they do a kids meal deal with drink and desert which saves you about a pound.
Staff were friendly and nice. The time we was in, there was a bit of 'bother' from what I assume is a local, but the situation was well handled by the chap behind the bar. Unfortunately the language by the chap causing the bother did somewhat overshadow the experience as it took some explaining to my kids that he was being a bit naughty.
Service at times was a little slow, we was in there for over 2 hours, and the kids did get quite restless in the 30/40 mins waiting for ice cream....!!
If your going for drinks the pub has a large area at the back with marquee so...

The Talbot Inn was listed in the Brit Stop app so thought we'd call John and see if we could get an overnight park. John couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The parking area out the back was roomy and we felt safe there. This was our 1st ever campervan experience and it was all made so easy. Inside the pub the atmosphere was great, obviously a favourite, local meeting point. We ordered the Rump Steak from the menu and it was nothing short of fabulous! Melt in your mouth steak, crispy chips, green peas, mushrooms and a wonderful pepper corn sauce to top it off. The Talbot Inn has set a very high benchmark for our journey around the UK. The beer was cold and the choice of beers was amazing. Ammenities were clean. Thanks so much...
