Upon entering Green King, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance. The restaurant boasts a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, with comfortable seating arrangements and tasteful decor that create a relaxed and enjoyable dining environment.
Green King's menu showcases a range of steak options, each prepared with skill and finesse. The cuts were impeccably cooked to my desired level of doneness, boasting a beautiful sear on the outside while retaining exceptional tenderness. The flavor profiles were well-balanced, with the rich, juicy textures providing a satisfying and indulgent experience. From ribeye to sirloin and filet mignon, Green King excels in delivering classic steakhouse fare.
Complementing the succulent steaks, Green King provides an array of delicious sides and sauces. The sides, such as creamy mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and crisp salads, were meticulously prepared and enhanced the overall dining experience. Additionally, the selection of sauces, ranging from tangy peppercorn to velvety béarnaise, added an extra layer of depth and flavor to an already delicious meal.
The service at Green King was attentive and friendly. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and were more than willing to offer recommendations based on personal preferences. They ensured a seamless dining experience, attending to our needs and ensuring our satisfaction throughout the meal.
In terms of pricing, Green King offers good value for money. While not the most affordable option in town, the quality of the food and service justifies the slightly higher prices. Green King provides a dining experience that is worth the investment for those seeking a classic steakhouse atmosphere.
Overall, Green King stands out as a reliable choice for a steakhouse experience in Ipswich. Read moreWe have never been here before, so we were looking forward to it after seeing pictures and reading reviews on line saying "best steak in town." We were seated by a window that was really drafty. It was only 2°c outside, so we were really cold. It felt like we were sitting outside. We had only just sat down before they came to ask us for our drink order, so we had to ask them to come back as we weren't ready. We then had someone dic9me to take that order, then the 1st person came back to ask our order. Ordered 2 vimto drinks and a milk, the vimto was in a can. Ordered the shared started, which was really good. the only problem was that it took 45 minutes to come out, so we were looking forward to our mains but not how long it might take to come out. Had a children's chicken nugget dinner and 2 mixed grills (medium rare steak). Steak was tough, and although it was sizzling when it came out, where we were sat, it got cold very quickly. Gammon was very salty and very hard to cut. The chicken was the only bit of meat that was cooked well. We didn't bother with desserts. We used the toilets while we were there. The men's were fine, but the ladies were cold, with no hot water, and the hand drier only blew out cold air. My daughters hands were bright red and ice cold just from washing her hands. When we mentioned it, all they said was they were have some problems with the heating and walked away. When we got the bill, I asked if the price was right for the cans of vimto, as they were £3.35 each. I felt that was very overpriced just for a can. I would have been happy to pay that if it came in a glass the size of the draught fizzy drinks. The staff member we complained to was very unhelpful and acted like she really couldn't be bothered, and said if you want to complain, go on the company website. Overall, we were very disappointed and will not be going back...
Read moreMy family and I visited the Royal George on 11/1/24 for lunch. While the usual bustling atmosphere was noticeably quieter, the service and quality of the food let us down considerably.
Unfortunately, our meals took significantly longer than anticipated, despite the less-than-crowded dining room. When the food finally arrived, the disappointment was palpable. The chips were lukewarm the steak proved unpleasantly tough, and the chicken remained at an unacceptably cool temperature. This rendered some dishes inedible and prevented certain members of our party from enjoying their meals altogether.
We brought these concerns to the attention of the manager/head chef at the Royal George, hoping for a professional and prompt resolution. Unfortunately, we were met with an argumentative and unprofessional response, particularly directed towards our elderly family members. This aggressive behavior further tarnished our evening and left us feeling disrespected and undervalued as customers.
This incident stands in contrast to our previous positive experiences at the Royal George.
We have always found the Royal George to be a reliable place for our family get-togethers It has served as a comfortable stop for our elder family members after their long treks, allowing us to reconnect over a meal. However, this recent experience seriously undermines our past positive experiences and raises concerns about the current standards.
While we appreciate the past comfort and convenience offered by the Royal George, this recent experience has unfortunately shaken our confidence. We hope that the management will take our feedback seriously and implement measures to ensure consistent quality and professional customer service moving forward. We urge the Royal George to re-evaluate their kitchen practices and staff training procedures to prevent similar occurrences...
