If you have any standards at all, do not go in here. Very grim. Our table was filfy, our glasses had dried bits of food stuck on. The drinks were flat. Walls and floor dirty, dusty and damaged. The chicken in the photo was all overcooked and half of it my daughter simply couldn't chew. The tray it was presented on had something smeared all underneath it. I would have had more pleasure from chewing on a flip flop than I got from my sirloin steak. The steak knife provided was futile against it. Terrible quality, I've never cooked or been served a steak so bad. Asked for medium/rare but received.... beyond well done. Same for a rump steak order, received beyond well done however it was still edible at least. The beans were cold and the salad was not dressed as described and had brown edges. I guess we got lucky with clean cutlery. The member of staff who served us was lovely. But she was basically alone and run off her feet as there was also a wake being held at the bar (quite the appropriate place for a wake I feel), so I felt sorry for her. She did check if we were okay but we could either tell her everything single thing was wrong or give her a break and simply never return. The worst £60 I have ever spent in my life. The fries, peas and condiments were fine is all I can say. Even a McDonald's would have been far superior. Or even worse, we could have gone to Rios Brazilian bbq for the same cost. Lesson truly learnt.

I organised my baby shower at Royal George as we always do events there with my husband's family. I reserved table and managed to increase the number on the last minute where everyone was really supportive. They let us decorate the table and area. Staff were amazing and was doing well with my chaotic guests! Food was delicious and the same as what we pre-ordered! There were some limitations on the menu but we were informed in advance so it was ok. All guests were super happy anyway. Staff was coming and making sure we are good, but also left us alone when we did cake to make sure we have some privacy! Couldn’t imagine better place for my Baby Shower!! Everyone was super nice and helpful and prices for food really low which made all my guests happy haha Hopefully next family event for me in December! 😊

Visited the Royal George in Ipswich. We hadn’t booked. We arrived on a Sunday evening about 5.30pm. We were greeted by staff and given the opportunity to choose where we sat in the pub. We were advised about the option to order at the table using the app or through the staff. We decided to order through the waitress. We was not advised of any items not being available. We ordered a sharing platter. It was very generous and very tasty. The food was hot and the service was quick. We ordered a biscoff cheesecake each. The cheesecake in my opinion was very bland it needed a bit of sauce or flavour. The strawberry was tasty. If you hold a blue light card, the Greene king pubs offer a 20% discount. I would visit again and recommend the Royal George to friends and family.

Green King, a popular steak restaurant situated in Ipswich, offers a delightful culinary journey perfect for meat lovers. During my recent dining experience at Green King, I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant's charm and the quality of their steaks.

Upon entering Green King, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance. The restaurant boasts a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, with comfortable seating arrangements and tasteful decor that create a relaxed and enjoyable dining environment.

Green King's menu showcases a range of steak options, each prepared with skill and finesse. The cuts were impeccably cooked to my desired level of doneness, boasting a beautiful sear on the outside while retaining exceptional tenderness. The flavor profiles were well-balanced, with the rich, juicy textures providing a satisfying and indulgent experience. From ribeye to sirloin and filet mignon, Green King excels in delivering classic steakhouse fare.

Complementing the succulent steaks, Green King provides an array of delicious sides and sauces. The sides, such as creamy mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and crisp salads, were meticulously prepared and enhanced the overall dining experience. Additionally, the selection of sauces, ranging from tangy peppercorn to velvety béarnaise, added an extra layer of depth and flavor to an already delicious meal.

The service at Green King was attentive and friendly. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and were more than willing to offer recommendations based on personal preferences. They ensured a seamless dining experience, attending to our needs and ensuring our satisfaction throughout the meal.

In terms of pricing, Green King offers good value for money. While not the most affordable option in town, the quality of the food and service justifies the slightly higher prices. Green King provides a dining experience that is worth the investment for those seeking a classic steakhouse atmosphere.

Overall, Green King stands out as a reliable choice for a steakhouse experience in Ipswich. With its inviting ambiance, flavorful and perfectly cooked steaks, and attentive service, this restaurant succeeds in satisfying meat enthusiasts. If you find yourself craving a mouthwatering steak dinner, Green King is a worthy destination to satiate your appetite and enjoy a...

We have never been here before, so we were looking forward to it after seeing pictures and reading reviews on line saying "best steak in town." We were seated by a window that was really drafty. It was only 2°c outside, so we were really cold. It felt like we were sitting outside. We had only just sat down before they came to ask us for our drink order, so we had to ask them to come back as we weren't ready. We then had someone dic9me to take that order, then the 1st person came back to ask our order. Ordered 2 vimto drinks and a milk, the vimto was in a can. Ordered the shared started, which was really good. the only problem was that it took 45 minutes to come out, so we were looking forward to our mains but not how long it might take to come out. Had a children's chicken nugget dinner and 2 mixed grills (medium rare steak). Steak was tough, and although it was sizzling when it came out, where we were sat, it got cold very quickly. Gammon was very salty and very hard to cut. The chicken was the only bit of meat that was cooked well. We didn't bother with desserts. We used the toilets while we were there. The men's were fine, but the ladies were cold, with no hot water, and the hand drier only blew out cold air. My daughters hands were bright red and ice cold just from washing her hands. When we mentioned it, all they said was they were have some problems with the heating and walked away. When we got the bill, I asked if the price was right for the cans of vimto, as they were £3.35 each. I felt that was very overpriced just for a can. I would have been happy to pay that if it came in a glass the size of the draught fizzy drinks. The staff member we complained to was very unhelpful and acted like she really couldn't be bothered, and said if you want to complain, go on the company website. Overall, we were very disappointed and will not be going back...

My family and I visited the Royal George on 11/1/24 for lunch. While the usual bustling atmosphere was noticeably quieter, the service and quality of the food let us down considerably.

Unfortunately, our meals took significantly longer than anticipated, despite the less-than-crowded dining room. When the food finally arrived, the disappointment was palpable. The chips were lukewarm the steak proved unpleasantly tough, and the chicken remained at an unacceptably cool temperature. This rendered some dishes inedible and prevented certain members of our party from enjoying their meals altogether.

We brought these concerns to the attention of the manager/head chef at the Royal George, hoping for a professional and prompt resolution. Unfortunately, we were met with an argumentative and unprofessional response, particularly directed towards our elderly family members. This aggressive behavior further tarnished our evening and left us feeling disrespected and undervalued as customers.

This incident stands in contrast to our previous positive experiences at the Royal George.

We have always found the Royal George to be a reliable place for our family get-togethers It has served as a comfortable stop for our elder family members after their long treks, allowing us to reconnect over a meal. However, this recent experience seriously undermines our past positive experiences and raises concerns about the current standards.

While we appreciate the past comfort and convenience offered by the Royal George, this recent experience has unfortunately shaken our confidence. We hope that the management will take our feedback seriously and implement measures to ensure consistent quality and professional customer service moving forward. We urge the Royal George to re-evaluate their kitchen practices and staff training procedures to prevent similar occurrences...
