Archie's Outdoor Cafe — Restaurant in Isle of Wight

I visited yesterday and ordered a double espresso and a tea. I paid and then realised that I’d been charged £7.40.

I asked the lady behind the counter if this was correct and she said “you’ve ordered a double espresso so you’ve been charged for 2 singles”. I then checked the board to see if any of the prices were listed. Both a single espresso and a double espresso were marked at £2.70. I’d essentially been charged £5.40 for a double espresso. I then said to my partner that the board clearly said a double was £2.70. The lady behind the counter then sarcastically and with quite a tone said “ well would it make you more happy if I gave you a refund of £2.70”.

I’ve never been anywhere where a double espresso is charged like this, it’s normal 30-50p more max. I also didn’t appreciate being belittled when questioning something about the price.

We had an order for 6 Rounds of sandwiches to take away we were told everything is made fresh so would be 10 minutes which I thought was quick. Lovely little cafe with a beautiful view. This is my second time having some food here with my friend after a long walk. Prices are very reasonable and people are friendly.

The iced coffee is nice and the bacon 🥓 baps are nice too.
