Denby Dale Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Kirklees

Called off chance recently for a light bite. Looked inviting from outside and we weren't disappointed. However although my companion enjoyed their choice of soup and sandwich my ham and cheese toasty although edible was more like a squashed bread creation. I don't think it had been made in the correct apparatus. This has not put me off though I would take more care before accepting a substandard toasty again. Overall, pleasant enough with good ambience, just a shame...

Food was lovely, kitchen clean and service good, but it feels like God's waiting room. I'm in my 50s yet felt out of place as full of pensioners in their 80s. I do get it's an old building and full of character, but it was cold, chairs are old and hard, china cracked, teapot chipped and leaked and with the waitress stood at the till just watching, you didn't feel you could talk.
