Replying to @shashiyaps Marstons, Huddersfield - Bonus Episode. I think it's fair to say that they're in a league of their own? #huddersfield #friedchicken #fyp #Foodie

My review covers two points. One is Marstons policy and service towards walk-in customers and the second point is food quality. It is Marstons policy to turn walk-in customers away if the shop has received too many online orders. This is the opposite to other food businesses who will turn off their online ordering temporarily to be able to service walk-in customers. We stood in the line for ten minutes outside in the rain to give our food order to their outside customer staff, only to be turned away because we had not ordered online. There is no clear indication of this policy on their Facebook page or their website. Second part of my review is the quality of the chips. These are par chilled chips and did not travel well. We drove five minutes from the shop to eat our food in the lay-by toward the m62 and found the chips to be hard, as though they had been cooked a long time prior to serving. The quality of actual chips in the portion was about half the portion, the rest were bitty parts of chips, as per the photo.

I saw an advert on instagram, looked up where it was & realised id be passing by in a few days, the street was busy with cars looking for a spot to park despite a car park adjoining which was full, a queue 30 deep, i thought itd take ages & almost didnt bother but didnt know when id next pass so joined the queue. Neednt have been concerned as there was a helpful staff member taking orders outside on an i-pad, the menu availble on the boards outside. Placed my order & the queue went down rapidly, i was no more than 10 minutes before my order was shouted out. 3 pieces with chips & gravy, was superb, proper stuff & all served with smiles. I counted at lest 14 staff busily preparing food in the 40yr old establishment, which in itself speaks volumes about its popularity, quality & heritage. Mark it on your google map & make the effort yo call in sometime, seems like a local best kept secret.!! Not anymore.

I will not be ordering from here again due to the disgraceful customer service I just received. I rang up and placed a telephone order and after collecting my order and returning home I realised there was a portion of chips missing. I rang the shop and explained I had ordered 3 portions of chips and only received 2 and she told me to come back and she would give me the missing portion of chips. I drove back to the shop to be told that I had only paid for 2 portions of chips and would have to pay an extra £2.50 before they could give me my chips. Why wasnt I told this over the phone. Bearing in mind I drove 2 miles there and 2 miles back and I definitely ordered 3 portions but the guy on the phone got the order wrong. However, they still wanted me to pay as their excuse was anyone could say they ordered 3 chips when they actually ordered 2, as if I was really trying to con them out of £2.50. To add insult to injury by the time I got back home the rest of my food was cold. I'm not bothered about the £2.50 but I take umbrage at the pettiness of the staff member I spoke to and the terrible customer service I received and will never shop at Marstons again. Sorry to say you have lost a customer of...
