This has definitely gone down in our ratings after our recent visit. We have been coming to the carding shed for years. Paid a visit last week and it appears that the menu has changed as had only ONE vegetarian meal on the menu (vegetarian breakfast). When asking staff if there was a separate vegetarian menu they too said that they have raised this countless times with management as agree there is no choice for the non meat eaters. I was offered by the server a toasted teacake or a ceaser salad without the meat (lettuce leaves then!?). I ordered a cheese toastie (on menu as cheese and ham). My partner ordered a fish finger sandwich. When food arrived the toastie was undercooked and the cheese was not melted- tasted more like a sandwich warmed in the microwave, was not enjoyable and left most of it!! My partner commented that the fish finger sandwich was tasteless and alot more batter than fish. Both served with a small side of scoddy fries, they no longer serve triple cooked chips. The bill came to £30 for two sandwiches and two small cans of pop which we thought was heavily overpriced, especially when the food wasn't great.

It is such a shame to be writing this negative review as this once used to be a favourite spot to eat. It appears that they have tried cutting corners with the quality of the food and also bumping the prices up ridiculously!! Now, we will be avoiding for the foreseeable and wouldn't recommend it to others based on...

The Carding Shed is a smashing place for an afternoon…or morning out….and no admission charges to the café or to view the various collections!. There is a small collection of vintage cars, with several are available to buy. In addition, there is a variety of cycles, registration plates and toys from ‘yesteryear’ to see. The venue has a workshop where you can view classic cars being restored and if you are there early in the morning, you can book a workshop tour-see the website for details. If you fancy something to eat or drink, there is an excellent café where you can have a meal, for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. The food, including delicious gateau’s, are home made with local products. Why not have a cup of ‘Yorkshire Tea’ to round off your meal or visit ?, served in a tea pot with real China cups, delicious….other drinks are available !.I would suggest maybe book a table in advance, as it can become busy ,we went on a Tuesday and there was plenty of room available. The toilets were very clean and well maintained, with a disabled toilet available. There are two car parks available with ample parking. The whole experience is like stepping back in time, the staff are excellent, courteous and polite and your order is written down by hand…not an ipad in sight !....and if you didn’t know….you are in ‘Last of the Summer Wine Country’, a true Yorkshire...

Thank you very much to all staff at The Carding Shed ' for making our stay today an absolute success. We're a classic car club, we had reserved a table for 20, and on arrival table was there for us beautifully prepared, the service was exemplary, everything arrived as ordered, and the staff were all so helpful and courteous. Believe me, this does not always happen elsewhere. Food was perfect and the The Carding Shed is a must place to visit for anyone, but certainly a car enthusiast even if just a fleeting interest. As said, the staff were amazing, and I never like to single out one person, but if I may just mention. I believe the young gent, it was his first day. To cope with 20 grumpy and very old folk as he did with a smile and the utmost professionalism, well I couldn't believe it when I was told it was his first day. Wow!! Well done!! But thanks all, and must mention the lady who took our orders in the first place. Everything was a fabulous experience. Anyone thinking of going but not sure? Just go. Honestly,...

My brother found this place for a Father's Day Treat for himself, my husband and our Dad from Google maps so hopefully this review will help other people find it. It's such a hidden gem. The cafe is like the TARDIS in that I thought it would be a little run down thing from the outside but once you step in, the size and the decor and the cars really take you back. It's amazing. My little boy had the kids picnic bench things which he loved. I has the pulled pork sandwich which was comfort food heaven. And the cakes 🤤 Service was slightly slow, but it's homemade cooked food so you expect it but we had an excitable 4 year old with us so thankfully there's enough around to keep him entertained too. We'll definitely be back and I've already started recommending it to friends.

I'll be honest, I was expecting a small(ish) warehouse with some cars and a few tables and chairs. In reality, it's a lot better than that. The showroom is a separate room and has a modest display of vehicles and a viewing area into the garage. While it may be modest, it is displayed really well. Next to it is a really large restaurant area where the display continues, especially when it comes to classic signs. Even the hall to the toilet has something to look at with the many model/toy cars on displayed. Unlike many themed places, the food was actually really good and the service right up there with the best. I'm going to say I'm very impressed with the way they handled 8 of us. I'm looking forward to returning, especially when they have a market on.
