Got there and even though I'd booked the week before and called again to amend the numbers there wasn't any record of me booking, not good at all. Really mixed views on our food, there were 9 of us including 1 child, the child's food was absolutely gorgeous, he got chicken strips & chips, plus chocolate cake and ice cream, all for £8.95. although we had to ask for his dessert, couldn't fault it. One of us had the roast of the day, which was beef, plenty of meat, lovely gravy, lots of fresh veg although the cauliflower was virtually raw, and a Yorkshire pudding, no complaints, one had the creamy chicken in white sauce with fresh veg, absolutely beautiful. 2 had burgers, chips and veg, no real complaints, one had gammon chips onion rings, which was ok, 2 of us had hunters chicken, the chips were ok, the onion rings were ok, but not the best I've had, but the chicken was so dry, a piece of bacon on top under a melted cheese slice, not a drop of sauce at all, it was a real disappointment, I've been quite a few times before but always at lunchtime, don't think I'd go on a evening again. I didn't take any photos, but I...
Read moreHave been looking forward to trying here for ages as reviews have been brilliant but not anymore. Seasonal veg on the roast is the finely chopped up frozen bag variety. The chicken & chorizo gyros was southern fried breaded chicken pieces and finely sliced cold deli slices that wasn't even chorizo. And the steak was overdone when asked for medium rare. Dont get me wrong the staff were lovely and so apologetic as the table at the side of us were all complaining aswell and wasn't the first time that night. Apparently its a new chef. So if you're expecting the same quality as Royal & Ancient you will be seriously disappointed. If new chef carries on providing food like that the place is going down hill after it has clearly worked so hard for its...
Read moreJust been for lunch with my wife and her friend, what a disappointment!!! My wife ordered gammon and pineapple with hand cut chips, I had a rare beef sandwich with hand cut twice fried chips. The gammon was like a cube of meat and they had run out of pineapple!! My rare beef was very well done and even crispy on the edges, the hand cut chips were thin frozen chips and the salad garnish was more like rabbit food with a bit of chopped pepper but no tomato. It was our first time here but it will definitely be our last. Two young lads in the kitchen who maybe had had a couple of weeks training each certainly not experienced enough to run the...
