I wouldn't of even give it 1 star unless I had to. Me and my wife didn't even get as far as ordering food before we left. As we walked in the woman behind the bar completely ignored us, I will be fair to say, she was talking with a group of 4 customers, but she had ample opportunity to say 'I'll be with you in a moment' or something along them lines, but she didn't. We was left stood wondering wether to sit down or not, my wife made the decision to take a seat (On a table that was completely free and not reserved) And I stayed at the bar waiting to order food. The bar woman then said to the group of customers stood at the bar that the table they had reserved wasn't so nice so she would move them round the corner. She then walked round the corner to see my wife sat at the table she was going to give them (not the table they had reserved) she proceeded to huff and say 'your going to have to move' these people are eating' there was a few words after this then my wife decided we were leaving. I found the whole experience disgusting. She was rude and the customer service was hurrendous. These other people already had a different table reserved, yet she wanted to move us off a free table to sit there? My wife was that angry that she called the pub to speak to the manager, it turns out the rude woman is the manager/owner, and all she said had to say when my wife expressed that she was upset about the situation was 'whatever' 'have you finished talking' . I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a nice and friendly place to eat with good customer service. All me and my wife wanted to do was go for a nice meal out and we soon realised this was not the...
Read moreSix of us dropped in here on a Saturday late afternoon for some food. Nice cosy pub, staff were pleasant, it was quiet.
We all ordered our drinks and checked out the menu. We had some starters to share. Nachos, olives with feta, prawn cocktail.
The olives with feta were fine, just like you get pre-packed in the supermarkets. Prawn cocktail was ok. Nachos were very disappointing. They appeared to be homemade, which is fine, but all they came with was some chopped tomato! No salsa, sour cream, guacamole?? Cheese? So basically just slightly chewy tortilla chips.
Mains were hit and miss. The burgers looked and tasted good, chips were good, and the meat pie was declared excellent. Two of us had the brie Wellington. It was supposed to come with saute potatoes, but instead it was boiled. When I said to the waitress 'these aren't saute potatoes' she just said no, and laughed as she walked off.
I have to say the brie Wellington itself was quite tasty, with the mushrooms giving the best flavour to the puff pastry. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be very much brie in there.... And the seasonal vegetables were just a few carrots.
For me, it was disappointing. Stick to the pies or burgers, skip the starters and you...
Read moreIf I could write two reviews, one for food (5 stars) and one for attitude to dogs (0 stars) I would. We stayed for 2 nights and ate there both evenings. The food was excellent and the cooked breakfasts too. However I felt very unwelcome because of their attitude to dogs. First morning at breakfast we were told to sit at a table on a hard floor and not a carpet "because there were LOTS of white hairs left on the carpet last night "(our dogs are brown!). They have a labrador puppy as well! There is also a member of staff who makes no secret of the fact she hates dogs and if looks could kill on Friday night we would be dead! She welcomed people who had no dogs and ignored us (apart from the filthy looks). She was also going around the locals whispering which made it a horrible atmosphere. Same attitude towards us at breakfast Saturday morning. She walked past the fireplace near our table and threw something in it at a distance, no doubt to try and frighten the dogs. What an awful woman. My husband also attempted to be friendly and chatty to the landlady whilst ordering our drinks Friday night and got a one word unfriendly reply. Definately would not return which is such a shame as the food...
