Once upon a time, as I was on a train journey from Wakefield to Leeds, I found myself gazing absentmindedly out of the window. The rhythmic clatter of the tracks and the fleeting countryside views felt almost hypnotic. But then, something caught my eye- a charming McDonald’s with an adorable and inviting exterior nestled in what seemed like the outskirts of Leeds. It was the kind of place that instantly sparked curiosity. As soon as I reached Leeds, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. With just a few keystrokes, I uncovered its location on Google: Wide Lane, a suburban gem quite far from the bustling city center. Realizing it wasn’t within walking distance, I marked it on my mental map as a place to visit when time allowed. Fast forward three weeks, and that curiosity finally got the better of me. Today, I hopped on a bus from the city center, ready to explore. The ride itself built up the anticipation, winding through streets that gradually grew quieter as the city faded into the background. When I arrived, I was utterly mesmerized. The surroundings of this McDonald’s were serene, almost picturesque, and the building itself seemed to blend modernity with warmth. Stepping inside, I was relieved to find it wasn’t bustling with crowds. The atmosphere was just as I preferred - peaceful and inviting. The staff added to the charm. Clara and Wendy, in particular, were attentive and friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. There was something else that caught my attention - air chargers neatly placed on the tables! I had never seen such a thoughtful touch at any McDonald’s before. It was a small but significant detail that showcased how modern and customer-focused this location was. As I soaked in the ambiance, my thoughts drifted back to a few years ago when I worked at a KFC in my hometown of Dalat, Vietnam. The memories of the camaraderie among the staff, and the satisfaction of serving customers all came rushing back or even the decorations/designs outside the house. This McDonald’s reminded me of those days, not in the hustle and bustle, but in its unique ability to create a welcoming space for everyone. I left feeling grateful for the experience. This visit was more than just a trip to McDonald’s - it was a reminder of how even the simplest moments can evoke powerful emotions and cherished memories. If given the chance, I would absolutely return to this little suburban treasure. Thank you, Wide Lane McDonald’s, for giving me such lovely moments to...
Read moreThis review is purely based on the drive through experience. I have been through quite a few times with small orders (2/3 meals) and generally have no issues but when I do bigger orders (we are a 6 person family) I have to remember to check what's given to us as there tends to be missing items. In total I have complained to McDonald's 3 times for this branch and received monetary compensation.
Today was the worst experience I've had. I know I went at a busy time and did a big order (8 people) but I don't feel that should effect anything. If anything they need to be more careful/vigilante.
Issue 1. The huge que for the drive through (almost out of the car park). 10/15 minute wait. Issue 2. I was waiting at collection window 2 for AT LEAST 10 minutes. I think they only got a move on because I got out of my car and asked them how long it was going to be. I didnt track the time I was waiting but I'm FAIRLY SURE it was around 15 minutes. I will add that they gave me 8 McFlurrys as an apology (Thank you Charlotte). Issue 3. I noticed I was missing a Happy Meal but they were able to provide it extremely quick. Issue 4. When I got home I found out we were missing one of the other meals and ended up having a Aldi imitation Pot Noodle (because I'm not one to make someone else go without what they ordered). Issue 5. The milkshakes were no longer thick and the hot drinks were cold.
In the past they have also forgotten cutlery when we've ordered a salad (I think that was also...
Read moreI usually go here every time, and I will in the future but I went this morning to get a simple McDonald’s, because me and my family want to treat ourselves right, but today it was just no. They get four stars because when I went to pay cash and redeemed a Big Mac, I asked for meal, but was deciding on what to get, there was no queue behind me, and the man at the counter kept demanding me to answer him, which was very rude, and it wasn’t even busy. He then had the audacity to give me a dirty look and scoffed at me as if he hated me when I did nothing wrong. I ordered 5 curry sauces because there’s 4 of us, one extra as a just incase, because I trusted this place a lot I believed I would have got all 5, but no I only got 3! I don’t care if they’re free, the other McDonald’s I go to always give me the right amount. Even worse, when I got home, the chips box was upside down and my chips all fell out, making my meal not tasty, my chips tasted stale too, hard as well, I eated my meal after 10 minutes collecting it and taking it home. The oasis was ok and so was my wrap. The apple pie? Part of it was burnt! Making it very difficult to eat. I used to love this place a lot but I’m debating whether I should go back or not, oh and the man who served me, someone needs to train him to have better manners towards customers, I don’t know his...
