I didn't want to leave a review, but as I reached out via email and had no response here I am. We came for a meal on Father's Day, upon arrival we were presented with a set menu. (We had checked the online menu before booking to make sure there was something we all liked). We weren't notified at any point that it would be a set menu only option, nor could I find anything online.
The waiter asked us which 2 courses we wanted, as me and my son didn't like any of the starters or desserts on offer we said just a mains please. He told us that we had to have at least 2 courses, even though I made it clear we didn't like anything. So I asked the male waiter if we could have a kids tomato soup instead (as that was an option on the kids menu) he point blank said no, they can't go into the kitchen and make requests. So we sat and watched my partner have his mushroom starter, which he said may have well been a pepper soup as that's all he could taste.
We then had 3 gammon dinners, which again was saturated in pepper, to the point my son only ate the gammon. We then had to wait 25 minutes for desserts, there were a few people complaining about how long there desserts were taking. It wasn't busy at this point, so not really sure what the hold up was. The female waitresses were friendly and when to check what the hold up was, and they came out soon after.
Overall it cost me £84, and we still had to go buy my son dinner on the way home. This was a Father's Day treat and we just wanted to leave and are very disappointed, definitely don't recommend. You should make people aware on booking if you are only planning on offering a set menu with...
Read moreI went to the Beulah with my grandad just for a couple coffees and when we entered and waited to be seated as the sign in the entrance instructed we were greeted by staff. My grandad said we just wanted a couple drinks and they asked if we had booked which seemed odd as we just wanted hot drinks and also the venue was more or less empty and not at a peak time. We said no and they said they would “see if they could seat us”, and after a minute we were seated. When the waitress came to take our drinks order my grandad ordered his drink (latte) and I asked if I could have an americano with coconut milk as I drink milk alternatives and the listed milk alternatives on the menu were oat, soya, and coconut. The waitress stated that they don’t do coconut just oat and soya, to which I said sorry it’s just that it’s on the menu. She restated in a tone of voice implying inconvenience that it’s just oat and soya so I ordered soya instead. The drinks did take a little while to come considering they weren’t busy but the other waitress who brought them over was clear in stating which was the free from alternative drink which I appreciated. It was a good coffee and was nice and warm but the attitude and lack of welcome from the staff really put me off. I also felt made to feel stupid for asking for coconut milk initially due to the response from the waitress and no explanation being offered as to why it was on the menu but not an option. I don’t think I’ll be...
Read moreWell I’m married, to a woman, so going to the Beulah, with another couple (also containing a married Women) seemed a good Idea.
The other wife booked a table for the 8 of us, we were the only ones there as it seems it is a lunch / early evening place, which is a shame as it is good grub, sorry fayre.
Me and other chap had the Calzone as Jo at the office said that is what we had to do and we always do as we are told. And it was top notch. Sometimes when you order a Calzone most of the filling is hot air, not on this occasion it was full of meat.
My Mrs had a quiche which was packed full of ingredients and apparently tasted like home made. The other woman (sounds a bit sordid doesn’t it, probably should re-phrase that) had a chicken and mash thing, which apparently was good too.
2 of the Kids (sorry young ladies they grow up so fast don’t they, but I digress) had pizza. The margarita was a 9/10 which is pretty good as far as I can remember there has never been a 10.
The other 2 had sausage and mash which evaporated so must have been good and a burger that also seemed to vanish into thin air.
The Young guns all had pudding which looked and apparently tasted excellent as well. I’d tell you if it did taste good but there was none left for me to try.
The staff were also first-rate, so thank you for looking after us so well.
So should you go, Absolutely.
Good food at...
