We visited the Farm Shop one afternoon and the service and produce here is excellent, The sausages are truly excellent and the Pork Pies superb and all the other meat, from stek and burgers to pork and lamb have so far been wonderful. The Sausages take me back to my childhood with memories of delicious sausages and these have the same taste and are way better than supermarket bought stuff. We will be making this place part of our regular shopping run from now on. On having such a good visit in the shop we asked about the Cafe and was informed that booking was essential and so a week or so later we called and booked for midday which provided an opportunity to take along our 18mth old grand daughter to see the animals etc.. On the day we arrived promptly about 5 minutes before 12.. there is a one way system in with hand sanitiser and the NHS Covid app scan area. There are about 10 tables in the inside area of the Cafe and only two men sat at one table finishing their meal and a party of four at another just reading the menu. It took 3 or 4 minutes getting to the counter as folks were giving take out orders in front of us. We got to the counter and were then told our table was ready and pointed in the direction of a table near the entrance and we went and sat down to peruse the menu. Other than the waitress at the counter the place appeared devoid of staff at this time.. and despite the waitress saying she would be with us in a minute she was taking orders from the other table, having to return to the counter when someone came in and was clearing old plates from tables vacated before our arrival.. In all it took 25 minutes for someone to come for our order, which with a young child who thought that was way too long to be sat still was a bit of a test. At that point it appeared lunch break was over as then there were three waitresses moving about in the cafe. My wife went an took our grand daughter to see the animals. We had ordered two of the 'medium breakfasts which were about £7.50 each and something from the kids menu for the little one, you pay at time of order, never popular with me.. I can see the need if folks are eating outside and may slip away without paying and obviously they just do that for inside too. In contrast to the wait to order it only took about 10 minutes for the food to arrive.. A hearty breakfast indeed if only they didn't drop the toast on top of the tomatoes making it so soggy that it fell apart when picked up and those tomatoes were a sort of thick paste rather than discernable peices of tomato in juice, similarly the baked beans were 'over cooked' if thats possible, rather congealed and had to be cut with a knife, if proded with a fork they moved as one mass possibly been kept warm for most of the morning so quite dry. Those points made the sausage, bacon and eggs were nicely done and very tasty as I knew they would be, the hash browns and saute mushrooms too were very nice. I didn't care for the black pudding, just something missing but I did try it. All in all the meal was good and worth waiting for. Apart from the little gripes which may have been due to the time we visited, I'm sure those beans and tomatoes would have been great at 9 or 10 am. On the whole it was a 7 out of 10 for the breakfast. Other things to mention, the childs meal wasn't great, one and a half sausages on a folded over slice of bread.. I dont think the little one was too concerned though, she enjoyed the bread but the sausages went with us, half each for the three dogs who like me thought they were excellent. Finally the table top was quite sticky and this is clearly not due to poor hygiene the waitresses cleaning the tables was very evident but maybe what is used to clean them or that they are unpolished wooden topped tables even so it didn't detract too much from the experience. On balance I would re-visitbut probably at a different time or for a different meal.. not...
Read moreA victim of their own success. Been associated with the butchers for over 30 years, and in the last couple of years it's been a nightmare in the cafe as service is so slow which ultimately affects quality of food. I.e. the poached eggs were fully cooked and done and then cold. This was on 1st June 2024. We told staff and she just shrugged her shoulders.
Then on morning of 10th August 2024, my hot chocolate with coconut milk had gone -off, as it tasted really funny. Sure enough they did confirm the milk was off, smelt the milk and binned it and remade the hot chocolate, only to be given a flat white coffee 10 mins later. The server said, "don't you drink coffee?", I said," no I ordered a hot chocolate" and she said "but do you want a coffee instead?". I said "no, I don't drink coffee which is why I ordered a hot chocolate 20 minutes ago!" I said look, can I just get a refund and she said, "but I need to get it all signed off by my manager". I said yes please and she was very reluctant, she said "are you in a rush". I said yes, my daughter had already drunk her drink 30mins ago by this point and I can't push a pram whilst holding a hot drink. She said she'd make the drink quickly and not boiling hot. Anyway it was boiling hot in the end and I just tipped it down the drain outside, just couldn't be bothered anymore with more waiting. Won't be drinking hot chocolate here again or poached eggs and reluctant to take friends or family to eat here in future now. Always waiting 1 hour plus for food and service is terrible which affects quality of...
Read moreMy wife, son and I walked to Bradshaws Bros cafe this morning, we walked a mile there. We all commented that there weren’t many cars on the car park so should be nice and quiet. We arrived around 9.30 and as directed - we asked at the desk for a table of three. We were asked if we had booked a table (we hadn’t and didn’t know we needed to, this has been our regular breakfast place for years, often introducing new customers). We noticed there was 6 / 7 empty tables. But was told that there wasn’t any available for us three. The assistant added “we are encouraging our customers to pre- book”. I don’t know how that is meant to work as we haven’t been contacted or ‘encouraged’ to prebook. We were told that we could eat outside if we wanted to, despite there being 6 empty tables inside. As all the tables outside were wet we declined. My son decided to order a take away sandwich, my wife and I waited outside this took around 15 minutes to arrive and we noticed that no new customers entered the shop so alas still empty tables. I think it’s a joke that you have to book and I will not be going to this establishment again I’m sure I’m not on my own in this people want breakfast when they wake up they don’t want to have to book it the night before sorry Bradshaws, I think you have made a...
