Ordered food as a party of 6. When it came to my order there was a choice of only 3 mains, Ice cream, cakes and chocolate bars. Due to certain dietary restrictions I enquired with a member of staff at the counter if I could combine a few items to make a meal that I could eat as most of the food I couldn’t eat. They had sausages and mash and I asked it I could have just the sausages. The lady behind the counter was rude and told me no as she would “loose out on a whole meal sale” so I said its medical. To which she replied loudly in front of the whole line up behind me.... “why are you gluten free?” I was really embarrassed and replied it’s personal. So she said I can’t sell you what you want. I explained that there was such a narrow selection of food and I couldnt eat anything and would go hungry. She replied “yes you will!” And moved on to serve the famously behind me!!! I was embarrassed and appalled at such a lack of awareness, respect and general rudeness. So I paid for the rest of our party to eat and sat there without any food. This should not be allowed to happen to anyone else! Angry is...

Inexcusably bad service. prices are more expensive inside than what's stated on the menu outside. Staff were not very smiley or helpful. The savory options they did have were lacking and out of four sandwiches one was sold out already by 1pm aka people's lunchtime.
It was almost £6 for a single dry tuna sandwich with four thick cut Cucumber slices and no garnish. Almost anyone could do better. They didn't ask for bread preference, yet staff came out to tell us they only had white bread left after we ordered as if we'd be disappointed... Then they came out with a brown bread sandwich! Bizzare.
Family member ordered what was just called 'christmas ham sadwich' with no more info written. Turned out it had stuffing (which was some of the worst stuffing I've had) along with relish. More welcome than plain ham but just not specified on the menu.
TLDR: mediocre service, sub-par expensive (for what it is) food and a really unhelpful menu that has incorrect prices.
Will not come back again. Go to Dobbies down the road...
Read moreAfter trudging through the wet gardens with the hall being closed we decided to have a meal in the cafe/restaurant. It was only 2pm and there was no hot food available apart from some potato wedges that were already cooked. We had some of those and took our seats with a hot drink each and we were watching the staff cordoning off the tables for cleaning even though they don't close until 4. A large party arrived after us with babies in prams and toddlers who were all crammed together on two tables that they had to push together. Lord knows what they found to eat for those babies and little ones! We WILL be back hoping to see inside the hall as it must be 40 years since we have been and really wanted to see it in its beautiful glory as...
