How many times has someone told you they’ve found a hidden gem only to pay it a visit and find out it’s average at best ? Well after being told by a friend he’d found a hidden gem I decided to visit and see what all the fuss was about and trust me I wasn’t disappointed, on entering this small but well kept establishment I was greeted by a young lady who directed me upstairs to a beautifully decorated bar , the landlord Ray was a pleasant character who’d been in the hospitality game for a long time and had a local legend status when it came to keeping a good pint , I had a couple of morettis (reasonably priced ) and spent a hour just soaking up the warm atmosphere, before leaving I asked if I could order some food from the well catered for menu to take away as I was pressed for time , nothing was too much for the chef and was presented with a delicious burger fries and side salad , felt guilty having as a takeaway as it would’ve looked even better on a plate but as I said I was pushed for time but trust me this is really a hidden gem I’ll definitely be visiting more often whenever I’m in town , five star food and service, if you want cheap average food go to Wetherspoons if you want value for money delicious home cooked food then this is the place for you, you won’t be...

Great little place, popped in as I parked out on the road for the night and fancied getting out the lorry for a bit thought why not. Walked through the door to he greeted by two lovely friendly people and shown upstairs to the quiet bar area, after a brief chat and a pint, gave the menu a glance and picked a meal. WOW, it was absolutely belting. I couldn't pick fault one bit, Beers is great priced, and Guinness was surprisingly good 👍 (always a bonus). Food was ample sized and very tasty. We had my birthday party recently at River and Roads about 40 guests attended. All I can say is thank you Nikki and your staff for the venue and the buffet you prepared the venue and looking after us so well, attentive but not over bearing. All the guests commented on how lovely the food and the good variety. The venue was well received and we had a great time.
