So this will be a long review, brace yourselves.
I'm going to break it down into these categories, and also provide pictures.
Service: the customer service is hands down a 10 out of 10, the staff, mangers concierges etc take care of you very well. They are very responsive and on standby whenever you may need anything, to them no request is impossible. They are professionally presented and trained. Very friendly kind and compassionate. 10 out of 10 in regards to service.
Decor: the decor, atmosphere and layout of the restaurant is also a 10 out of 10, its very modern, chic and classy, but not overwhelming to the point where you feel pressured to wear a suit and tie. Cleanliness is absolutely NO issue. The place is kept in tip top shape, the tables, cutlery and dinnerware is very clean and on point. 10 out of 10 for decor.
Convenience getting there/parking: very quick and easy to get to, near Brentwood/haroldwood but technically located in Romford, free parking is also available and security is there for anyone that may need assistance, 10 out of 10.
Food: now the bit everyone probably cares about most, the food! This will be split into: 1. Presentation 2. Value 3. Taste. So I had gone with my family for my sisters birthday, we ordered two starters which were the wagyu sliders, and the juicy jumbo shrimp. Presentation was on point, no complaints, the taste however was a bit confusing and left us not sure how to feel. The prawns looked plump, juciy (no pun intended) and fresh, the tomato based sauce it came in was slightly on the salty side and the prawns themselves (shell on) were under seasoned. The wagyu sliders were very underwhelming, the beef was overcooked and the sauce to meat ratio was low, not enough sauce or seasoning oj the patties themselves, I'd give the two starters a 6 out of 10. Now the mains and drinks, two of us ordered 2 non alcoholic martinis called "Promstars" I'm sure you know what this is based off of, non alcoholic passion fruit mocktails, they were absolutely amazing. Then we ordered two cokes. For the mains, we ordered, a rib eye steak cooked medium rare, came with bone marrow and caramelised onions (a whole half onion chargrilled) the rib eye initially had flavour but dried out very quickly and was not cooked evenly (overcooked and medium rare in different areas) I'd give this a 6 out of 10. I had ordered the beef short rib as it was recommended by staff, came with truffle mash potato and bbq sauce. This was a disappointing dish as the short rib had no seasoning or flavour to it at all. However I must praise that I was cooked to perfection and was fall off the bone, the truffle mash was a bit clumpy, thick and stiff, wasn't creamy and just got overwhelming after a while, the bbq sauce tasted like a regular store bought bbq sauce. This dish I'd give a 5 out of 10. We got the yuzu and miso glazed black cod that came with cucumber and pickled daikon, the cod was extremely fishy at some times (where it even overpowered the yuzu and miso) and other times it was just too sweet and had no balance. The daikon was good however, this dish I'd give a 5 out of 10. Finally for the mains the last item was a off the bone chicken thigh, with truffle mash and sautéed green beans, this was the best dish out of all, perfectly cooked, moist, juicy and tender. Flavour was on point, mash was the same as the beef short rib but the green beans were also amazing and had a crunch. We had 3 sides, hand cut chips, pretty self explanatory, cheesy truffle chips, these were good but also overwhelming, some chips were not cooked all the way. The last side was mac and cheese, this was creamy, cheesy and warm, however it got overwhelming too and lacked a lot of seasoning. Total bill was 215 including £20 service charge.
So that was a mouthful. Overall including the food I'd give this restaurant a 7 out of 10, food was disappointing for the reputation but was a good experience...
Read moreI was initially drawn to this restaurant by the beautiful breakfast and brunch photos I saw on Instagram. The decor and atmosphere looked promising, so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected.
First off, their website gives conflicting information about when breakfast and brunch start. Some parts say 9:30 AM, but in reality, it doesn't start until 11:30 AM. This kind of basic miscommunication was just the beginning of the problems here.
When we arrived, the reviews on google about long waits to get a menu proved accurate. Despite there being plenty of staff, we had to actually ask for a menu after waiting far too long. The restaurant itself looks nice, and the staff were polite enough, but politeness means nothing without efficiency.
Now, let’s talk about the service—or rather, the lack of it. I ordered my eggs medium, with runny yolks, and what I got were overcooked, hard eggs. When I questioned this, the first waiter couldn’t understand English well enough to help and had to fetch another one. The long-haired waiter who took our order admitted that although he had supposedly told the chef, he didn’t even bother to write it down properly. I couldn’t believe it. They eventually brought the corrected eggs, but only after I had already finished the rest of my breakfast. Absolutely unacceptable.
On top of that, the food took an absurdly long time to arrive. There were only four tables occupied, and two of them were seated after us, yet we still waited 40 minutes for what should have taken 5 minutes to cook—just eggs and sucuk! I can’t imagine how disastrous the wait would be if the place were actually busy. It’s clear this restaurant needs new management because the current one is failing miserably.
To add to the frustration, I ordered Turkish tea. Not only was I not asked if I wanted sugar, but when I requested it, I wasn’t even given a spoon until I asked again. And when I finally got one, it was the wrong size for the cup. These small details matter, and they got them all wrong.
If that wasn’t enough, both my meal and my partner’s were missing borek, a key item. The waiter had no idea what borek even was and had to check with the kitchen. He came back, admitted we were right, and then casually mentioned he’s more familiar with the evening menu. Are you serious?
In summary, the breakfast was mediocre, the service was disorganized and shockingly bad, and to add insult to injury, they had the nerve to charge for table service. This place could be something special, but right now, it’s a disaster. They have plenty of staff, but they clearly don’t know what they’re doing, and it’s the customers who pay the price—literally. A huge...
Read moreI would like to share my horrible experience on New Year's eve. We have booked a table for 9 people including two kids. We paid deposit and were looking forward to spending a lovely time with friends and family. Few hours prior our reservation, we have contacted restaurant to inquire if it will be OK if we had a champagne in the car park at 10pm as it would be New Year's in Lithuania and we wanted to raise our glasses for the loved ones back home. Phone call was answered by the female who has introduced herself as a receptionist and later on as businesses owner. No name was provided at any point when I've asked to introduce herself. This "businesses owner" was so rude and obviously without any understanding how to deal with customer's that I was left speechless. She tried to cancel our reservation few hours before our booking without any valid reason. Then she tried to explain that set meal prices were increased. I have explained that we booked our table 3 weeks in advance and that we have been provided with the set meal prices already. She was so unprofessional and lacking of experience of how to communicate with customers that I ended up putting the phone down and driving to the restaurant to speak to someone face to face. We met with the owner of the restaurant and we have been explained that they have taken too many booking for the evening. But is it a customer's problem? Or is it a poor management? In the end, we arrived at the restaurant on time of our booking and this when we realised that we came to night club and not a family restaurant. Music was so loud that we were not able to hear each other at the table. Food was delayed, plates were siting on the table for a long period of time. That was the worst experience I've ever had when coming to thr restaurant. That was the last time we went to this place. This place is lacking an experienced management and well trained staff who do not over step there actual position at the work place and introduce themselves as " businesses owners ".This woman was only owner's sister who is significantly lacking a great communication skills and professionalism when dealing with customers. I feel so sorry for other staff who were apologising for unorganised and unprofessional management over the night. The owner as well failed to inform of significant change of set meal prices and then rudly trying to enforce the payment. This place needs a new management and more polite owner's relatives as being a relitive to the business owners, do not give anyone any rights to be rude and unreasonable when speaking to the customer. This place needs to understand that customer is a King at this...
