I've lived in the area for over 25 years, and remember when this place was The Station Café. When it was the Station Café I used it only twice in that time, the second time to confirm it was as bad as the first!
Then came the present proprietors and a complete (and very necessary) refurb. Once I got used to the new regime (2-3 visits), and once they adjusted to changeable customer wants , outside of CoVid restrictions, my wife and I have been back 2-3 times/week, and often bring the family along too! ( imo Café Break menu and food presentation was always good, generally just staffing issues needed addressing. They have been.)
Service is great; courteous with a greeting and a smile. My wife's regular order is remembered, and I've enjoyed every item of the menu, breakfast and lunch, I have tried. Portion size is generous. Price competitive with similar establishments.... I agree that if some find the price too high, then there are greasy spoons, comparable to The Station Café available, that may be more in keeping. I did hear a customer rudely complaining once about pomegranate seeds on the side salad. The Staff simply listened and took his empty (with the exception of the pomegranate seeds), away. I hope he's taken his custom elsewhere
I find Café Break a fantastic addition to Station Road. It provides a high standard décor and quality of service and produce that others can aspire to. Long may they remain! (No, I do not have any connection with the premises nor its Staff other than being a regular customer).
It is also heart-warming to hear of their (and other Harold Wood Businesses) contributions to local...
Read moreAwful and overpriced.
Breakfasts don’t come with a tea or coffee like any regular cafe. They don’t swap any items from the breakfast sets and a latte is around £3 so for a breakfast with a coffee it’s over £15 which is extremely overpriced as most cafes offer the same or more food for £8-12 with a coffee and some toast on the side.
A can of fizzy drink is £1.80 and even a bottle of water is £2.80!
Sorry but you’re in Harold wood it’s not central London the prices are ridiculous, and the quality of food is just about average.
Would definitely not recommend going there, even the seating is very over encumbered so not much room to get onto your chairs, definitely can’t go in there with a pram if you have young kids.
Burgers claim to be homemade Pattie on the menu and it’s actually bought from a meat market like most kebab shops with a sub-standard quality of meat which is grey not even fresh red mince.
Curly chips which are exactly the same as what you’d cook at home from your local Tesco/Asda etc
Cheap products with high price tags , small accommodating space and terrible set menu.
Definitely in need of some major changes to be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Coffee Break and I must say, the experience exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and immediately made to feel welcome by the attentive staff. The service was impeccable – each member of the team was professional, friendly, and eager to ensure that every need was met.
And then there’s the food—absolutely delicious. Whether you're here for a light snack or a full meal, each dish is crafted with care and exceptional quality. The menu features a variety of options, each prepared using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. From their rich, aromatic coffee to mouth-watering pastries and savory dishes, every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality. A standout was their signature avocado toast, which was the perfect combination of creamy and crisp, complemented by the...
