So Breakspere Arms... talked about all over North West London so I had to check it out. As a Individual that visits these pub/indian food pubs aka desi pubs, I thought let's see if this lives to its expectation.... it clearly did not! Food was awful, quality of the meat was well below average, butter chicken didn't taste like butter chicken, I'm absolutely flabbergasted at how people can say the food here is good, they must not go to many of these types of places. Even more from the food hygiene authority this scored a 0 yes you heard that right a 0 which was given to them a month ago lol god knows what type of meat they are cooking up there and this is one place I would stay away from, don't want to catch something or even get ill from the lack of hygiene they have in preparing and storing the food. Everyone giving this the two thumbs up, well I hope you don't get any serious illnesses.

Onto service.... forget about it we were rushed through our meal and they gave us the bill before we had even tasted the food. Which we paid and get up and left. This is a tactic they use to push you the customer out so they can free a table for someone else to maximise their potential earnings, clearly not a customer focused business. Our server threw our cutlery onto our table and walked off. The owner is beyond rude when we brought this to his attention - from me this is the worst indian pub around the area.

I have you give this a 1 star but literally this is my first zero rating I have given (Just like their food hygiene rating).

AVOID AVOID...

NO LONGER DOG FRIENDLY!!!

We booked a table over a week ago and clearly specified that we needed a table for 8, including a baby and a dog. We turned up today after a 2 hour drive from near Leicester to meet with family. As we arrived, we were immediately confronted by two managers not to come inside as we had our dog with us?! Shocked! We've been coming here for years with our dog, we love the food, and the fact we can bring our pooch with us.

They told us about incidents with their own dog and dogs that were visiting, which I can understand the change of policy. Today, after explaining that they didn't tell us over the phone or ring us beforehand and that we travelled 2hours to get there, they kindly made an execption!

However, while we were there, other people with dogs were allowed in! Okay, they are small dogs, but the bad reviews, which were about the dog incidents, involved small dogs.

No mention of the policy change has been made on facebook. On google, it is still classed as dog friendly!

Imagine turning up to the door, your family waiting to welcome you, and this is what they do!

From reading the other reviews. The owners dog is in the wrong. Why can't they create a safe space for their dog to enjoy or keep on a long lead where they can roam in a designated area?!

I am so sad, as a regular visitor, and I have brought so many new customers here who have enjoyed the food, I will now be telling them to no longer go here and we can find many places more welcoming for us all...

Disappointing Experience for a Birthday Booking

I booked a table for 4 at Breakspear Arms in Ruislip to celebrate a birthday. Things started off promising—we arrived at 8:30 PM and were told they close at 11 PM. But from the moment we sat down, the staff were unusually pushy about getting our order in, even though we were still waiting for one person to join.

Starters were actually great, but the mains were a letdown—especially the lamb bhuna and butter chicken, which were both bland and lacking the rich flavours you’d expect.

The real issue began at 10:15 PM. Despite the restaurant supposedly being open until 11, staff started pestering us to settle the bill while some of us were still eating. By 10:30, they were trying to clear full drinks and practically hovering around our table. Three out of four staff kept lingering, watching closely and grabbing anything we put down—plates, drinks, even naan. When they took the paneer away, they asked if we still wanted it as it was being taken.

It felt like we were being rushed out—totally killing the vibe of a birthday celebration. And it wasn't just us—other tables nearby were also arguing with staff about the same treatment.

If they want everyone out by 10:15, why advertise an 11 PM closing time? That kind of pressure and poor service really ruined what should’ve been a relaxed and...

Very tasty food served by helpful staff some of whom seem confused. Very nice staff member from Kisumu Kenya ( now departed!), who is exceptional. Nice desserts . Bright dining areas with a well stocked bar. Toilets could be freshened up. There is parking space available. Pleasant surroundings in the countryside. 28.5.22 Tasty food served by friendly staff in a lively atmosphere. However the ventilation system needs to be working properly otherwise cooking smells are sticking to the clothes & which is not pleasant! 20.7.22 Tasty food & desserts served by friendly staff in a clean environment. 23.7.22 Needed to make the dishes bit more spicier especially the saag aloo! 11.9.22 Tasty food served by friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. Masala fish 🐟 could have more desi masala while toilets are blocked after heavy duty use & should be kept clean & smelling fresh! 11.2.25 Tasty Amrisari fish , Goan fish curry , Saag aloo , Onion bhajee & Pulao Rice 🍚 washed down with Irish Coffee & Coffee with Bailey's & Fresh Cream served in a clean environment by friendly staff who seem to be in a hurry to getaway & urge customers to leave as well! The stained toilets đŸš» need to be kept clean !

Beer and curry go together like wine and cheese. Usually though a pub isn’t always the best place to get an authentic curry, but I think this pub is a genuine exception. The Indian food is at the very top end of good Indian restaurant scale, the fact that it is a pub is just a bonus as you can also catch a footie match if you fancy. The perfect accompaniment to beer and Football was a mixed meat platter. The two lamb kebabs were deliciously juicy and even a little spicy. The lamb chops were a little tough but the sauce they were smothered in was very tasty. The fish, prawn and chicken tikka also on the dish didn’t disappoint, and as the serving was so big, I’m surprised we found room for the mains. But we did. The chicken dish was juicy and the sauce tasty. For the fish curry we went for the spiciest option and it didn’t disappoint. Finally the okra dish was also on par with the others and along with the delicious and crispy garlic naan bread it was a good meal. So if you’re a fan of curry and beer, you’ve found the right place.

The food here was really good. We ordered from the English (not Indian) menu and weren't disappointed. Based on the food I'd have given this place 5 stars but sadly the service was dreadful. We were there for a birthday party with around 15 folk present so not a huge group by any stretch of the imagination. The waiter walked up and down the table taking orders from the English menu first. After this they took starter orders from the rest of the group. Food came moderately quickly but our mains arrived with the Indian starters. The Indian mains were then ordered after half the group had eaten. It was a disorganised poorly thought out shambles. If the place had been busy then they'd at least have some sort of excuse but sadly no. Good for Saturday lunch but not with a large group.
