Located below the Everyman Cinema Happy Face Pizza offers pocket-friendly Neapolitan pizzas, parmigianna, and lasagne. Amongst the twelve pizzas on offer you have traditional pizzas such as a Marinara (tomato, oregano, garlic, basil) and a Pepperoni (£13). You can also customise your pizza, with additional toppings such as mushrooms and olives. Vegan cheese (extra £2) and gluten-free pizza bases (extra £3.50) are also available. The pizza is loaded with toppings and the the crust is so light and airy like a marshmallow. The Salsiccia (£14.50) with tomato, mozzarella, neapolitan sausage, friarelli and fresh chilli is the meatiest pizza available. Dessert-wise, the tiramisu is fresh and creamy. Worth a try if you are in the mood for some sweet indulgence. The space is large with an industrial feel, catering to individuals, small and large groups offering bench tables and bar seating. The menu and the drinks menu is simple with an optional kids menu. Around six in the afternoon, the lights are dimmed and music is blasted creating a buzzy vibe. Below Happy Face you will find SuperMAX, a late night (Friday / Saturday 5pm - 1am) cocktail and dancing spot.

Usually when I come here it's amazing, great price for the food we get and friendly staff. Today the staff were still very friendly but the usual jug of tap water was not put on the table the entire meal and the food size seemed to have shrunk as fast as Alice in Wonderland did since the last time I came only days ago. The bruschetta would have needed a magnifying glass to see if it weren't for the chopped tomatoes to guide our way through our antipasti, however my mother had eaten the calamari and said it was so good it was worth the price. The pizzas which I would brag were the size of their big plates had now become smaller than the plates borderline children's portions and i had witnessed many pizzas being served burnt. I usually have a good experience which is why this review has not received less than 3 stars, I will be returning in hope that I can return to this review and say it was an off day for Happy Face pizzeria but today's experience has been rather disappointing.

The only reason I left happy face somewhat happy is thanks to Afsaara (the manager) who was lovely and addressed the issues we had. But overall I wouldn’t recommend this place - there are definitely better pizza places in the area. Service was incredibly slow - waited 30 mins just to order and actually had to get up and ask someone to come to our table. They then got my order wrong and the initial ‘fix’ was atrocious (see picture). Whilst the manager resolved this by getting a fresh one made and giving a discount, it meant waiting even longer than we already had for a new pizza. Food - pizza was ok. The gluten free one was no better than a store bought pizza. The pizzas my friends ordered were decent, though nothing impressive especially given the price. Atmosphere - really nice and place is spacious.

Like others have said there’s a weird/rude front of house manager/owner … not sure what he is. My friend and I popped in before a movie. Relaxed vibe, we didn’t see a ‘please wait here sign’, about 50% of the tables were occupied and 50% free, there were no front of house staff, we stood for a couple of minutes before deciding to sit thinking maybe it was seat yourself. It’s a pretty casual place and be it wasn’t obvious if you waited to be seated and no one was there to ask. As soon as we sat the ?manager? Came over aggressively asking if we had a booking, we said no and that we could take another table, he walked away without answering and started talking heatedly to a waiter while gesturing at us. We waited a long time with no menus so I got up to get us some off the side. The waiter then realised we hadn’t been given menus, came over and apologised to us and said the manager was just angry with us and he was like that but not to let it bother us. Again we offered to move (the restaurant still has more than enough empty tables). The waiter said we didn’t need to move, the table wasn’t booked and again apologised. The manager for the entire 45 minutes we were there kept staring at us rolling his eyes and tutting, it was super uncomfortable. The food was nice, the waiter polite but this other guy ruined our meal. When the bill came I tried to be kind to the waiter (who was clearly having a hard time with the manager and looked really stressed) and he again apologised for the managers behaviour. Won’t be returning and I’m a member of Everyman cinema and this has just become my local cinema so they’ve lost a would be regular Monday night customer with this bizarre behaviour. We looked for a please wait to be seated sign on the way out and still...

Jesus, where do I start?!

Calamari starter was a miserable portion, it almost worked out at a £1 per piece.

Then the pizzas were under cooked and soggy which we had to return, Happy Face had just one job...

Then we looked on in horror as the pizza guy shook his head and disagreed with the waiter that there was anything wrong with our pizzas.

Did the usual pizza guy ring in sick and they drafted in the burger flipper from the nearby MacDonalds to cover for him?!

That said, managing to under cook a pizza in a proper pizza oven is a feat in of itself, aren't they around 400 degrees celsius? Now that's impressive.

We ended up getting replacement pizzas that were properly cooked, however they were bland as an episode of Coronation Street and lacked any flavour at all.

Even copious amounts of chilli oil couldn't salvage this sorry excuse for a pizza.

On top of all this, for 6pm on a Thursday, the atmosphere was like the waiting room in a cancer hospital.

There were more staff than customers and they all looked like they'd rather be somewhere else, in fact they all looked like they'd rather be anywhere else.

I've got to give kudos to whoever named this restaurant 'Happy Face' they must have one helluva sarcastic sense of humour.

Even Domino's is better than this place, not kidding.

I'd give it 0 out of 5 stars if I could.

But other than that it...
