Absolutely atrocious. So let me set the scene. It is mothers day. My girlfriend had booked a table online for 4 people, weeks in advance. We arrived and were told that they do not do "online bookings for such busy days"...wait WHAT? So we were instead seated near the bar. For 20 minutes we were trying to get the attention of one of the waiters/waitresses to order our food. There were plenty of them. No eye contact. No acknowledgment of our presence. Almost as if we were being purposely ignored.

Then a group of people sat next to a table behind us. A couple of minutes later, a waiter walked straight past us and our (now frantically waving) hands, completely ignoring us and taking the orders of the newly arrived guests... wait...WHAT?

This is mothers day. We were hungry. We were told that our online booking was invalid (even though we had an email saying that they are expecting us). We were placed in a noisy and cold bar area. And we were completely ignored by all staff... and it wasn't even that busy...

We eventually left and went to the nearest place we could find to eat (as at this point we were starving). We ended up at Pizza Hut. Immediately seated. Within 3 minutes we had someone ask if we were okay and if we would like to order. We almost had tears in our eyes because we were being treated like actual people.

If not for my sake then for my girlfriends mother, please avoid this restaurant at all costs. Imperial Lounge is so bad we left before we even...

I previously posted a good review but after today (Mothers Day) had to change it. I have been here with family twice before and the food has been good and service not too bad. Today however was completely atrocious. We arrived and got taken to a table that had rice all over the seats and just cutlery (forks no knieves) directly on the table with no tissues. Plenty of staff but no contact, we had to on multiple occasions call them over for service. My mother order Paneer Makhani and barely ate any of it as it was extremely sweet. Once we finished our meal, it took a while for staff to come and clean the table which by that point was quite busy so we did understand. Eventually, when the waitress came over we told her to pack some of the leftovers to take home. She took some of it and packed it up but never returned to collect the rest. We than waited for almost a whole hour before calling someone else over to collect the rest of the plates and leftover food. We ordered the bill and refused to pay the service charge, the manager just took the card without asking how our meal was or why we were refusing to pay the service charge, when previously we would leave extra tips. Never had this problem before and always thought quite highly of this place as the food is generally quite good. But after today, I'm not sure if we will...

This is a fantastic restaurant if you want to have some delicious Indian food. They have a huge dining area with plenty of tables and a majestic kitchen to serve the place. Brilliant staff who are very helpful. And the interiors are beautifully designed with warm colours to make the place really cosy. They serve a vast selection of food and drinks. So be prepared to be amazed. We ordered the Methi Makai Masala and Diwani Handi with lacha parathas and chilli garlic naan for mains. To say it was delicious is an understatement here. It was mouthwateringly scrumptious. Although I generally eat a good portion size, the dishes were rich and heavy, hence I could finish the course. The bread served is much bigger than what you get in most restaurants. So you will be warned by the fantastic waiting staff. What I think they could improve on: I am not a fan of artificial food colours. I felt that some of the food served used some artificial colouring. Indian food is naturally colourful and does not require these as they don't add any value to the food served. This is a personal preference so I appreciate why the restaurant might prefer this. I tried the Chinese Bhel and I must say, I'll never order it again. It wasn't Bhel at all! A misnomer at best. It does taste like strongly flavoured fine noodles. But nothing to...

The environment on approach was breathtaking and being a historic site added a special touch. I went in for a take away, the place was recommended by a well meaning friend and the view alone gave me abundant expectations. I was given a menu and got some help from the waiter at the counter. I wanted onion bhagis for starters but was told that they had been discontinued. I looked at the waiter, incredulous but with humour and said ' Indian food with no onion bhagis' we both laughed. Anyway I made an order for lamb biryani, prawn curry ( extra not) and coconut naan bread. 45 min later my smile was disappearing , I was getting impatient. I asked for my food, the waiter looked at me with a blank expression and offered to go and find out. He came back saying the cook had forgotten but had started preparing it now, he said the cook was new. Another 30 min and the food arrived, I was at this point loosing the will to live, hungry and thirsty. The biryani was ok, nothing special though, hot and fresh. The prawn curry was outstandingly tasty. You can trust to get hot and spicy if this is your preference. The naan was disappointing, it crumbled but had a good taste to it. I'm giving two stars for the food only. Service was vile.

Overall disappointing experience. Location and interior of restaurant have loads of character and it gives a warm feeling when you enter in restaurant. Very well maintained and clean setup. We placed our order together with our starters and main course. Starters were very nice and freshly prepared but main course was served after almost 45 minutes since we finished our starters. It was very challenging with two young kids as they keep asking when food will be served. We followed up multiple times with our server who gave very vague responses like “kitchen is very busy” which is completely un acceptable, also I have observed most of the staff was newly hired fresh college students who were not aware how to deal with customers and their orders. Main course dishes was tasteless and felt like being prepared in hurry, we ended up leaving without finishing any of the main course dish. One good part was they serve #halal meat and a huge variety of Chinese #Szechuan dishes.

A couple of weeks after clearing my test and buying a car, we went to Imperial to celebrate with family and we had a pleasent evening together. Its easy to get to if you spot the right / left turns crossing through the main road and there are 2-3 rows of parking slots which felt generous. The interior resembles a proper posh hall with high ceilings and dim lights. Focus lights ensure you have plenty of light to look around even in night time. Menu seems full of oriental and north indian dishes. Tum yok paneer was nice as well as decent portion jhol momos and singapore fried rice this time. Overall both cuisines were very yummy and our son who doesnt even touch spicy food had his tummy full. The desserts are lovely to end it as well. Particularly easy on the pocket if you order oriental dishes. Thanks for a wonderful time for my family
