Would absolutely NOT recommend this place for diners at all !!! Very poor on my second visit (see below this first visit's review).
Not too great overall Visited first on 20th March 2018 at approximately 6pm Started off fine with good friendly professional service at the bar, but the food was over priced for what it was and the service although friendly was very slow and unattentative..........waiting staff seemed to be more concerned about drinking, chatting to other staff members than looking to the customers needs. I received no checkback on the food (how is/was your meal Mr?) what so ever. Will visit again as I want to believe that this was somewhat a 'one off' bad experience.......fingers crossed. VERY POOR Second vistit the following day on Wednesday 21st March at approximately 5.30pm. Again met my partner there had a drink at the bar and all seemed fine. We were seated and was served by a young man named Matt, who I must add was very polite, helpful, and professional throughout the meal. Orderd wine which was misleading to it's decription, however this was rectified. We ordered Vegtable Penang, and Rosttisseri Pulled Chicken, (£11.45) and Deli Chicken Tika Masala (£9.95) good high prices for these dishes only to find they were small portions of microwaved food served with condensed rice (Easy Cook Rice) and COLD TASTLESS FOOD served on cold plates. Mentioned this to Matt our server and did not bother to order desert.......just the bill which came quickly this time in about 3 minutes. The assistant bar person was pleasent and polite when I complained about the wine and dealt with it professionally. Matt our server was left a tip as he was great and did so well for such a young inexperienced person. The surroundings are superb..........what a pity that the food was such over priced c**p. Shall never recommend or...
Read moreBeen a customer here for 30 years and visited with my dogs many times, however was subjected to public humiliation by numerous staff during our recent visit because our dogs apparently smelt. If a pub markets itself as dog friendly, it should be dog friendly regardless, not pick and choose when dogs are welcome. Our dogs are extremely well behaved and we are very considerate dog owners, and always request same table in corner as appreciate not everyone wants dogs near them, however we have now been essentially barred because unfortunately our dogs got wet in the rain during our last few visits leading to customer complaints. I completely appreciate that not everyone is a dog lover and a damp dog smell isn't ideal, but we didn't intentionally get our dogs wet and if you allow dogs in your pub, you should allow them regardless of the weather. Also the pub should be more understanding of negative reviews from non dog lovers and not penalise the customers that do visit with dogs just because they got caught in the rain. We were also there to celebrate my dad's 87th birthday, however no consideration seemed to be given towards that and the experience and memory of it is now tarnished by how we were treated. To any dog owners wanting to visit, be aware that if the weather isn't fine, you too could get...
Read moreA racist, traumatic and embarrassing experience for my 83 year old grandmother on her Birthday because of two members of staff, including the manager! My 27 yr old sister and friend were singled out and asked for ID when no other customers (visibly under 25) were asked. One produced a driving license and when the other 27 year old could only produce a picture of her passport, she was told by James that if she took one sip of Prosecco, she would be thrown out and barred (who ironically is the same age as her). When we complained to the manger about how she’s been spoken to, she made it clear she didn’t believe us and she became condescending, rude and passive aggressive. I demanded to know why my 27 year old sister was singled out, she started quoting the challenge 25 law. We then got up and asked 3-4 young people with their families if they’d been asked for ID…SHOCK NONE HAD. I asked the manager (Australian woman) to explain again why my sister had been singled out and spoken to in that way, she had no explanation and the only difference was we were the only black family in the pub. I told her it’s racism, she denied our experience and said “we’re all people”. We’ve been coming here for years and will never return. Appalling, racist management, terrible customer service. Avoid...
