Koz Ocakbasi Restaurant — Restaurant in London

I’ll start this off with a health warning! This is good food but not great food; I dined inside and it smells too much like a barbecue. There is a pipe inside that is not fully diverting the smoke from the charcoal fire outside, some of it escapes within. The staff will soon feel the effects of Carbon Monoxide poisoning if they don’t fix this major issue. I would be very surprised if customers haven’t complained about the overpowering barbecue smell but I chose not to because I have no intention of going back - here’s why...

This restaurant is situated on a corner somewhere between Greenford and Southall, it was previously the graveyard of several restaurants which never had any success. My point is, the location isn’t special and there’s no way the rent is expensive so that’s not an excuse for the extortionate prices and believe me, they ARE extortionate. The food was well cooked and presented, but it wasn’t amazing. The salad was average, the meat varied in quality. The chicken cubes were nothing special, the kofta was average and the best was probably the lamb shish as it was quite tender and well cooked.

Nothing in this restaurant made this food worth the prices shown on the menu. There is no starter that costs less than £4, I barely saw a meal that costs under £14 - this is Greenford and the ingredients can’t be costing anything like what they’re charging so I think it’s just bare faced cheek and arrogance that has set these prices!

I am delighted to pay a ridiculous amount of money for food but that’s when the quality of food and the location are deserving of that money.

The restaurant has excellent indoor decor and good service but neither of those make the prices fair.

Purely on the basis of price, I won’t be coming back. Park Lane prices for Greenford can’t be...

We have been meaning to try this new Turkish restaurant that opened nearby for some time, and, with the second lockdown imminent, we really just wanted to have a nice Sunday meal and enjoy some time not thinking about being home all the time. We would have been fine with anything vaguely nice, but instead we came here and we were blown away!!

I had read that the service was good and the food was decent; actually, the service was wonderful, cheerful waiting staff (refreshing!) and smiles so big, no mask could hide them :) We were safely seated and the gorgeous, fresh bread, olives and sauces were just lovely to start off with. The Lamacun was honestly the best we've had and we actually (jokingly) fought with the waiter when the mains came - they were so good that we could have easily not had anything else! We had the spiced mince lamb with labneh and butter, as well as the minced chicken equivalent, and both were perfectly executed melting-in-the-mouth delicious.

I realise that all this praise can sound pretentious, but actually, at these ridiculous times, having a gorgeous culinary experience in a warm and friendly environment is so needed, and Koz Ocakbasi is happy to provide.

The only regret: we couldn't fit more in our tummies (though the doggy bag went down well a few hours later!), and they will be closed from Friday...if you can get there before/after lockdown, you...

I’m so disappointed in the service lately . Last 2 times we came , we ordered cocktails that did not taste the same as the previous ones. I reckon they changed staff . There was a lady I remember that used to make us feel welcomed , and always treated us more than just customers. Perfect service , perfect ambience , perfect food . Unfortunately now every time we came in the new lady wouldn’t pay attention to us , we would be looking around for help and she would just ignore us. She seemed really bothered that we asked for another drink and she FORGOT to bring us the drinks. She never asks us if everything is ok, she just brings the bill and gives us a half smile. There is one tall guy that is really friendly which why I gave an extra star. I’m sorry I would not be returning it’s a shame the food is absolutely amazing but the service it’s a total let down . And if the service is not good I WOUL not be returning ! Tips to the owner : if your going to make changes into a business make sure you make the right changes (and I’m talking about the staff changes) the service means a lot to me and my wife .
