Not the first time we've been here and certainly won't be the last. Food of exceptionally high quality - just look at the pics - this was our Sunday roast today, and we had beautifully prepared and presented mixed roast, with roast beef, leg of lamb and turkey. The roast potatoes were exceptional, as was the caramelized red cabbage. Service also warm and friendly, as was the atmosphere, with great effort put into Christmas decorations both inside and out. We do a lot of fine dining and this roast was up there, great taste, portion and very fairly priced. Speaking of fairness, I've seen a very few recent shock reviews on here from customers who seem to have a coordinated axe to grind. Maybe they visited on an off day but there's no need for OTT criticisms behind internet anonymity. People leaving unfair reviews like that should think twice about small businesses and their staff making an honest, and hard living in a post-pandemic age. And yet the manager is still bending over backwards to please. That should tell you that they've got a great attitude to customer service. Even though it was getting packed (and rightly popular) they managed to seat a family who turned up on spec, with a bit of extra effort. Lucky family! Keep up the great food and service, guys, we'll be back!

Sunday roast menu. Had the lamb shank and hubby had the lamb roast with extra roast lamb, which we would give 10 out of 10. Not overcooked and chewy like in some other places we have been into. Was yummy. Had it topped off with the best made pimms and lemonade in Romford. Great prices for quality food. Good selection of dessert which we didn't manage as we were both stuffed after the main dish. Garden area is child and animal friendly. Good parking. Great place for a big party..should reserve! Staff are wonderful, love them. So friendly and bubbly. What more can you want?

The food is poor quality as I order Gammon with egg, chips and pea but chips was overcooked bit too hard too very dry and no peas was missing on the plate. I have ordered a steak for medium-rare but it looks like well done. There was no juice from the steak. I’m not pleased. The services were friendly great but not the foods. Other meal fish & chip was overcooked. Please see a video of meals. I noticed that the chef is useless and don’t care about food. The chef should replace! I paid £150 for 4 meals. Need to improve of that.

Been coming for years, and theyve recently closed the upper level of the outside area. arugably the only decent bit of outside seating there is. the rest of it is cheapest park benches they could find, along with sticky wooden benhces. persuably from drinks being spilt. even when the upper level was open, it hadn't been cleaned in years (i have seen the same lime and fag stuck in the cobbwebs for over a year), covered in cobwebs and leaves/fag butts. the cushions for the benches dwindled away never to be replaced, making the entire experiance awful. i would come up every other night for 3-4 pints, and some chips with family and friends, and now i can just about bare to stay for 1 drink. and have stopped asking people to come up. every other week.

Internally is fine, but as a smoker, and someone who wants to enjoy the weather we have, the outside area was the main attraction, with the decoration, large amount of seating, heat lamps on every booth, comfortable chairs, and nice, appropriate lighting, and since the new manager has taken over shes seemed to have a vendetta on happiniess, shes closed off half her beer garden, which is where Lee, a previous landlord, spent most of the money on! and now its gone to waste.

The beer selection has gone bad, getting in the mainstream beer, and offing the smaller breweries I think the current manager used to manage a city chain pub, with tight rules, and big label beers. not used to country side/village pub life at all.

manager seems to have asked staff to go out and ocasionaly glare at customers. or is it just me. not picking up any glasses, or cultivating a warm, welcoming enviroment such as the one i became acustomed to, during lees tenure

this pub, however, does have a unusual gimick, they dont have a pub cat, they have a child that runs about bashing scooters and climbs the furniture. im not against kids, but - when they are climbing over the wall, onto the my uncomfortable seating that im througly not enjoying, and telling me to MOVE because im in his way, as he is trying to scoot through my group, ontop of the benching - I get nobbed off.

going to find a new spot. not enjoying coming here.

was looking forward to visiting there this...

First of all the live act was really good so no quarms there. The issue was with the service and the food. The food would have been passable if it didnt take so ling to come out. Shouted at by the owner I'm assuming asking what drinks we wanted. 'DRINKS? DRINKS?' out of nowhere. Nearly made me jump out of my chair. Then by the end of the night we asked for the bill. The bill apparently couldn't be split for whatever reason. I say that as a reason wasn't given when we asked. Then when we stated quite calmly we didn't want to add a service charge we were pounced on. Didn't realise this place was a charity that required a donation. We were happy to pay the full bil of course but when asked for another menu to check the pricing of everything the server froze and didn't know what to say. This then was ignored and so we don't know what to pay our friend who paid the entire bill so that's going to be difficult to figure out as there was 12 of us. The server then said in a patronising tone 'well I didn't take off the deposit for the 2 people who didn't come so' when we stated we didn't want to pay service. This was then added on as if a punishment for not paying service. We had no issue paying the deposir for the 2 people who did not show it was more the way it was used against us when it was the servers decision to take the full deposit off the bill initially. Overall very weird experience which could have been alot better if the server just answered our questions clearly and calmly rather than jumping down our necks. We didn't want to add the service due to the attitude stated and as the food wasn't out for a very long time. Plus our bill was large anyways and in today's economy alot of us didn't have the...

EDIT: Pub responded to this review asking me to email them about my experience so they could put it right. I did and they never responded. Even more of a reason to not return. Another star dropped for lack of customer service.

Food is lovely. Roast is great, however I paid £80 to reserve a table for 8 a week before booking and was not told you could pre order meals. When we attended, pretty much all roasts and sides were sold out, so not much to choose from. None of what we ordered was our first choice. This is a miss and poor service from the restaurant and staff (lack of training?), especially when we've paid so much of a deposit for 4 adults, 3 children and a baby. Had to really get staff attention to take drink orders and then food orders. Requested a table with high chair, not present when we attended. This was our first visit but unfortunately didn't blow us away. Dining at a restaurant is about the full package, not just the meal. Finally we paid with one waitress and another came over after asking if we'd paid, almost insinuating that we hadn't. How dare you. Check with your colleagues to see if we've paid, don't harass customers. Disappointing experience. My own fault. I'd meant to book The Rabbits and got mixed up. Had hoped this would be a refreshing experience...
